These kinds of price drops on LEGOs have become more and more common since they opened their new factory and have been able to finally meet demand for sets like these. They clearly haven't figured out the right balance of supply to maintain the equilibrium of rarity that people associate with the brand.
A good example of this is the Saturn V rocket set. In the past it would have been a 1 run and done set, commanding sky high prices today. If you look back at deals posted for the set, though, you'll see that the deal prices on it have steadily gone down. Look at the number of reviews for it. It's clearly a popular set, they're just able to meet demand in a way now that we're not used to.

Which means it's real not selling at all. This is the first time I've seen Ideas not sell out and skyrocket in price. but good proce though...
It never sold for $125 by a legitimate retailer. It never sold out. Are you thinking of the Saturn V set? This small set was widely available and has been since launch.
Read the top Amazon reviews.
I did. I saw what you read at Amazon. I'm just telling you not to buy this set because you think it's valuable and it sold at $125. Only a moron would buy this set for $125. It has always been widely available for $25.
If I had a 5-year old girl, I'd buy this set. It's worth about $15 to $20.

This is a good price, but if you are looking to flip it for a profit, you'll be waiting for years to make it worth your time reselling.
It absolutely did sell out when it first started being sold. It was impossible to find after the initial release. They had a few more production runs of it in order to meet demand. Looks like they overdid it.
