Paying off the device via chat (can only be done this way anytime after 14 days of activation):

- Note: This option is mainly for people looking to keep the account/line with Verizon active, but want to pay off their device ahead of time. If wanting to port your number out, skip this section and see below.

QUOTE: macrokelvin
"Add a payment method to your account. Then initiate a Chat Bot from below or from the Verizon App:

https://www.verizonwireless.com/s...ontact-us/

Type "Pay off device" and the Chat Bot will take care of you Big Grin "

---------------------

Porting

IMPORTANT: < Make sure the phone is activated on Verizon > (once it's activated on the Verizon line for the first time, this will unlock it for use on carriers other than Verizon)

Quote: microkelvin "It's recommended to register for My Verizon before porting out, so that after you ported out you can still access your account with limited features to pay the bill online:
https://login.verizonwireless.com.../reg/start
or you can pay your bill here:
https://ebillpay.verizonwireless....#/payments "

- It may also be a good idea to go into the "Documents" section of your My Verizon account (using a desktop browser) to print anything off you'd like to keep for your records.

If you port out within the first 3 days of activating, it will waive the $30 activation fee.
If you wait to port out after the first 3 days, you will owe the $30 activation fee.

Example (if porting out on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd day):
- After porting out, you will get a bill from Verizon for: $349.99 (Pixel 3) or $449.99 (Pixel 3 XL) + prorated cost for the # of days you were on the plan.
- So if you port out on the first day, you'll get charged one day's worth of service based on whatever plan you chose. You do not lose the $450 discount if you port out. On your bill, it will stay as $349.99 if you got the Pixel 3 or $449.99 if you got the Pixel 3 XL.
- If you ported out after the 3rd day of activation, you can expect to also see the $30 activation fee added on the bill and it will also need to be paid (this cannot be waived at this point).
- You can use the following link once the account is closed to pay off the device (it might take Verizon a couple of days to "catch up" and process so you can finally pay it off). Pick "Access a disconnected account" under the "Select an account type" dropdown menu: https://ebillpay.verizonwireless....#/payments

Porting to H2O Wireless:
h2o Wireless Pay-As-You-Go [h2owirelessnow.com]

Buy an h2o SIM Card:
Quote: macrokelvin (link in case you wanted to rep their post -KaiyoJinn)

"Use the following link to port and choose "h2o Pay As You Go" under Service Type. You don't have to fund the account."

https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/ma...e=transfer

---------------------

Alternatively:
- H2O has a limited-time deal: One month for $5 (must activate by 3/31/19)
- Sprint BYOD one year free plan (requires a hard pull on your credit to get):

Yes, you'd only owe the amount financed on the DPP which would be $450 for the Pixel 3 XL. You can also sweeten the deal and save an additional 5% off a downpayment using Target RED Card. So let's say you put down an additional $400 you'd only owe $50 on the phone and you'd save another $20 with RED Card.
Did this when it was 400 off Black Friday. They make you have it the 14 days. You get hit for 1 month of service. The new line fee. Taxes. And then you can pay it off after 14 days. I tried. No luck getting it early and no luck cancelling the service at 3 days without them requiring the return.
see attached picture for the $300 BIC this was via chat. I sent a copy of the chat to my email just incase they ever deny me of it. Also yes of course do it inside target store!

The screenshot shows that you are going to pay $450 over 24 months. Am I missing something?

If you keep getting the full price showing when trying to reserve, follow the process I posted earlier in the thread.

Login to your verizon account. Navigate to "My Billing" then "Documents & Receipts"
There should be a link for "View my next bill summary". Click that, then expand "Show details" for the "Monthly charges" on the line you purchased the phone. I see the credit (see below screenshot)

I'm not seeing the $300 credit I assume you are talking about.

They likely thought you were talking about seeing the promo for $300 in bill credits everyone's been talking about stacking with this $450 off. So they asked why there isn't a spot in your pic saying $12.50 ($300 divided by 24 months) applied towards your next bill. Those wouldn't show up for one to two billing cycles though.

It's because your post they quoted said "I already see the bill credit on my next verizon bill" but it looks like what you actually meant was that you got the instant $450 off, so your bill for the device breaks down to $18.75/month.

Are you choosing the device payment (financing) option? The screenshot makes it look like you chose the full price to begin with.
No I chose the upgrade/financing option. Actually there wasn't even an option to buy it straight out.

The person behind me did that, i.e. bought Pixel 3 for $450 off on an upgrade without reserving online. Just make sure that they do have inventory before heading out there.

question to people who are not planning to stay with verizon- anyone ported out already, or are you all waiting to do it after the 14 day period?
You don't have to wait for 14 days.
Quote from premonic :
Sometime back Verizon declared they would be locking the phones, did they start doing it ? These phones are unlocked out of the box right ? I could use it on any carrier ?
The phone is unlocked. Verizon reversed their locking decision.
Quote from aza455 :
If you are a Verizon customer and want to stay with Verizon, do you have to activate the phone within certain period of time? Any requirements regarding activation time frame at all?
A phone (any phone) must be activated on the line within 30 days, else it will be automatically flagged by the system. Target usually activate the phone for you when you purchase the phone. You can tell them it's a gift and not to open the box and activate it. Then when you go home, you can activate any phone using the SIM they gave you on that line. As long as the line is active with any phone in good standing, you will continue to receive the bill credit. You can do whatever you want on the new phone (use it on another carrier, give it to another person, etc.)

Just to be clear, and I apologize if this has already been answered, I don't NEED to do anything to get the monthly bill credits? They will start automatically? Are people just speaking with chat reps to verify that they have been applied? Thanks!

Can I upgrade a line and use pixel on family member's tmo plan? I'd keep my existing line and iphone and get bill credits? Would that be a win for me and my family member gets cheap pixel 3?
Yes, after you upgrade, swap your iPhone back to the line with the SIM Target gave you.

Print out the deal from target.com and bring it with you.

right but if you dont port out the number before 3 days (which is separate then paying off the device), you have to pay for service and activation fee, correct? It feels like the posts keep leaving that part out but it seems important. What am I missing?
Port out within 3 days, Verizon will refund all charges back.

We went to Target yesterday and opened a new account, purchased two devices and got 450 per device instant discount. We went to best buy and bought two H2O SIMs, planning to Port out to H2O, don't have plans to continue with Verizon. If I Port out before the 14 days mark, will Target ask back the device since we would not be staying with Verizon for 14 days?
No.
Quote from Navigatn :
Anyone know if this deal is valid with business plans? I'm getting a "processing error" every time I try to reserve a phone through target online. I have an unlimited business plan with 5 lines and want to add another line and get the Pixel 3 XL.
The Target portal does not recognize business account.
Quote from luigimario :
I upgraded today at a Target store and that went without issues. After a few hours, I contacted Verizon chat and got a half-confirmation. Initially the rep asked me if I did this via My Offers in Verizon account. I said no and told her that I did it at Target and shared the promo link, at which she said that since this was done at the Target store, the promotion will apply and credit will apply in 1-2 billing cycles.
I wasn't sure if her answer was generic or did she actually know about this promo being applied.

I am debating whether to contact Verizon again ...

If I plan to port to H2O just as a way to close the Verizon account (and don't intend to use H2O), do I need to fund an H2O account with $10, or do I just need the sim?

It appears the H2O port page doesn't require an airtime pin but I want to make sure it goes through correctly: https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/ma...e=transfer
Just buy the h2o SIM. You can pick it up for $1.99 while at Target [target.com], or $1 at Best Buy [bestbuy.com]. You can try asking Target to price match Best Buy, but it could be denied because they look slightly different from each other even though both are h2o 3-in-1 SIM.

Use the following link to port and choose "h2o Pay As You Go" under Service Type. You don't have to fund the account.

I intend to go with the pay as you go plan. So, I just go to Best buy and buy the Sim card? What should I do after buying the Sim?

I am confused about how long one should wait before paying off the device. Can I pay off as soon as the phone is activated on Verizon?

Thanks in advance.
See above on h2o porting.

You can't pay off this device just yet.

anyone else able to pay off using the chat bot or link mentioned above?
Did you add a payment method to your account? Did you try both Verizon App and verizonwireless.com?

Your screenshot showing the device payment plan, not the credit. The credit should be 12.5 (300/24).

just wanted to add another data point here.

I got the pixel 3 from target today (monday), and got confirmation from verizon over chat that the promo for $300 in bill credits would apply since "it was purchased within the promotional period". I also asked for the identification number of the promo, which is 223259.

Hope that helps.

that is correct port now and wait for the final verizon bill. Let me head this warning to you. If you port out less than 14 days they will charge you for a full month. That is what they didd to me in the past. However you can always ask for the activation fee back if you cancel the line withing 3 days.
So if I port out now I might not have to pay the $30 activation, but if I wait for 14 days I might not have to pay the second half of the month ($~30). So it works out about the same? Either way I'm paying ~$60 for the service (assuming cheapest plan)?
