This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I think you need to take a trip to Hawaii Trang! I heart heart heart Maui!

I thought that they actually just got a Target on Oahu (I seem to remember seeing pics of the reds wearing red hawaiian shirts)

You probably would end up kicking him out because it's unlikely that he'd warm your soup and pour ginger ale for you. He'd probably just sit on your couch, scratch himself, drink a beer, and hog your TV. Bonk

yea, they did just open a Target in Hawaii. I saw it on here a few weeks ago. They just opened their first CVS too but my storage unit has more inventory than that whole store!

This weather is making everyone sick! One day I wasn't wearing a coat because it was so nice then a few days later we get 6 inches of snow.. seriously, wtf?

I think So. Cal would be the nicest place to live, but I'm honestly too afraid of earthquakes, plus it's just as expensive, if not more so, than the NYC metro area. I like NJ, but seriously, if it weren't for coupons (I heart coupons too!), there's no way we'd be getting by right now. I'm guessing AZ looks pretty much like NJ in the winter, except with cactuses and lots of heat Smilie I dunno, I think we're going to have a take a trip out west to see what the rest of this great country is like. Plus, wherever we end up, there's has to be a CVS and Target (preferably a super Target heart)! Big Grin
I have lived here for over 3 years and have only felt 1 tremor. Wildfires on the other hand...I have dealt with October 2007 & October 2008 fires. In 2007 it was BAD all of San Diego County was on fire. We were on the evacuation perimeter just waiting for the evac notice. That is some scary stuff...you have your car packed with all of your most valuable possessions and a survival kit to last you through the evacuation and possibly longer if your house burns down.

DD's said her classmates thought the snow falling in DC this January was ash and not snow. Bigeye

I am thinking of taking a 2+ hour drive to the nearest SuperT to get some of that cheap/free meat. Would that be crazy? DF said that is sounds good to him, especially since neither of us are working much is super tight right now!

Ariel....I could have sworn there was a Super T out your way but when I researched it I guess the closest 1 is in the central Valley....boo!
Will the amount you spend on gas & oop for the meat be cheaper than what you can get on sale locally?

Florida = constant humidity = bad hair, always
CA = SUNNY AND 70 YEAR ROUND! Whee Yahoo!
AZ = NO humidity = best hair!

*snip*

I'm headed out your way today Thrifty - will be at "the mall" some time this afternoon! Then it's back downtown for work for the rest of the week and back home to the snow in a few days.
Edit: FTFY

Ok so we definitely pay for sunny and 70. It is freaking expensive here!

Which mall are you going to? The one in Carlsbad? I haven't been there in forever. I only get to the grocery, T, K & Helly. Such an exciting life I live! My job is getting in the way of slickdealing!

Quote from Sharon52680 :
My parents have a condo down in Florida. They go down for the winter for health issues. I've visited them twice and I hated it. Both times I went were in March. The first time it was so hot and humid that I'd take a shower in the morning and walk outside and I felt like I needed another shower. The second time it was like 60 and it rained the entire week. Worst hair days of my life. Isn't there somewhere out there that is warm, but not hot, has no humidity, has lush greenery, cheap but nice housing, plentiful Super Targets and CVS stores, snow on Christmas morning, no hurricanes, tornados or earthquakes, good schools, safe, and has lots of jobs and friendly neighbors? Is that too much to ask for??
The place you described is heaven. nod We will only find it after we die.

What is it? Crap on Florida day??? It's not all bad down here. I live within 30 minutes of 3 Super Targets and 6 regular Targets. Speaking of Target, if anyone has the V8 Q saved can you PM me. The printable from AFC doesn't scan for me.

Plus, I don't know what you guys think about this, but Arizona (at least the Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale area) just looks so clean to me. Tucson, forget it - that didn't even seem like AZ to me - but the valley area, just looks so clean. Maybe it's because it gets so hot that everything just burns up and disappears, but still. I've been there when it's 120, in a convertible, top down, and never really felt "hot". Got back home (Chicagoland) to 80 degrees with humidity and wanted to die from "heat". I'll take the AZ dry heat anyday! Besides, you don't have to mow stone and cactus!!! LOL!!

There are parts of AZ that aren't bleak and desert, I love the area around Flagstaff, don't know if they have a ST but the have walgreens and CVS, also the Prescott, Prescott Valley area is really nice.

I was born and raised in Ca and they are soo liberal out there that I couldn't wait to get out! Just like NY, Ca is the land of high taxes and government interference in private lives. I live in TX and LOVE IT here. Are houses are reasonable priced and the forclosure market is not any higher than in the past, of course we had our housing bust in 2002, when the .com bust happened.

You live in "Don't Mess Wtih Texas" land and think there is government inerference in private lives? Bigeye

FL is a great place to visit but too hot and humid in the summers. Hurricane season has me a bit Cold as well.

AZ again is a nice place to visit but dry heat is still heat. I don't care if it is dry 105 in April is the pits.

No worries I am ready to ditch SoCal before the end of the year. Back to the midwest. Crappy weather and all. But reasonable cost of living and family is there. heart

Oh yeah, speaking of Palmettos.... those Palmetto bugs!!!! ...and little lizard things EVERYWHERE!! eeewww!!
Don't forget scorpions in AZ... laugh out loud Scary walking out to your car and seeing one of those on the side of your place! Also had an infestation of little lizard like things one winter - geckos I think they were. My cat loved them...

You CAN afford Phoenix!! If you can afford to live anywhere, you CAN afford Phoenix! Especially if you buy right now - and don't think even for one moment that you would "stand out". With the weather as amazing as it is, there are ample bikers down there and tatoos are their middle name - sounds like you'd blend right in Wink .
AZ is a circus - a melting pot of everything weird in this world... but if you want to live in Scottsdale, hope you're willing to have bleach blonde hair and wear the short short short skirts laugh out loud Also be prepared to learn Spanish fast - minorities outnumber the Caucasians in Phoenix area.

laugh out loud Nope, no ST near me. :shake; Though I am going to be driving out to the AF base to get meat soon. I wish there was a ST closer, since I am driving to get meat anyway, might as well be to a T, but 2 hours is a little far to drive. I think the base is only 1 hours away for me.

I sorta figured on the whole Spanish thing. Don't they call San Diego Mexifornia? But then again, where I went to high school caucasians were the minority as well. I think it makes you more tolerant and generally more open minded to grow up around different kinds of people. I only wish I spoke Spanish. As for the bleach blonde hair, I'll just be like Bella from Twilight! Smilie

I have a phone interview for a job in AZ next week. Sort of scary and exciting. I've lived with 40 miles of where I was born my whole life. Maybe it's time to be adventurous!
