My wife said no when I told her I was going to buy another grill. Then she saw what it was and said buy it immediately. Slickdeal

According to Amazon it weighs 30-32lbs, which is less than I was thinking.

Listed on Amazon as 32 lbs item weight but only 30.5 lbs shipping weight... Assuming that is reversed it's a little more then 30 lbs

It only weighs 32#. Per Amazon's product page item weight is 32# but shipping weight is 30#...

Amazing how the product gets 2# lighter when in the package, but gains 2# when taking it out, LOL.

Assuming she heard the word hibachi, but what makes this even that? Smaller grill grating?

Saw this in an open box at my local Walmart. Was going to pull the trigger but some thoughts crossed my mind. As this would be placed table height or actually on a table, the platform would need to be able to a) handle the weight without tipping over the platform (e.g. flimsy patio table), and b) withstand heat transfer of to platform surface (Legs of unit burning plastic or wood table) Anyone have experience with this?

Seems kinda small and no cover. Even $50 seems expensive. Maybe I'll just use a small fire pit or rocket stove with grate. Cheaper and less upkeep

A) Don't put this on a flimsy table
B) Put a brick or concrete landscaping paver under the feet which would prevent heat transfer.

I remember when these things were around this price on Amazon and people here (or maybe it was fatwallet) went absolutely nuts over them. I never ended up getting one, and am still on the fence about it hahaha.

I've got one. It IS really heavy, and it's cast iron so there are all of the rust and upkeep issues. But it's still admittedly badass, and 45 is a great price.

I'm assuming you seasoned it though? Rust shouldn't be an issue as long as it's seasoned right? Do you rinse the entire thing down after every time you use it or something? Or just leave it outside?

It comes preseasoned, and I've tried to keep up with it. That said, you're burning a charcoal fire inside the thing, so between the high heat, scraping, charcoal clean out, etc, it's impossible (in my experience) to maintain a consistent or accumulating season, like you would with a pan going on a stovetop
