I've owned this grill for 8 years or so. Below are some of my experiences with it:

- Heavy to transport. It's doable as I used this as my tailgating grill but you definitely feel it.

- Limited surface area. Cooking for 1-2 people is fine. Cooking for 3-4 is more of a stretch but can be done with the right foods (burgers, hotdogs, etc).

- Grill grate can be used upside down. This is useful if you're searing (grate surface will be closer to the coals). Another benefit to this is the posts will be facing up and will prevent food from falling off.

- Line with aluminum foil: Someone mentioned this in an earlier post and they are spot on. Line this with foil, put your coals on the foil and cleanup will be MUCH easier.

I liked this grill. I use a Jumbo Joe now because it's more versatile. I may have to dust this baby off and use it to finish some reverse seared steaks and burgers.

The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't come with a lid. I take mine camping with me all the time and just use another cast iron pan flipped upside down over it and that works well.

They used to make a fish fryer cast iron pan that is dimensionally the same as the grill surface (makes a perfect lid) but last I remember they're like $150 because they're "vintage".

It's a hibachi, a lid would be pretty weird.

one location around me dropped to $21 with 3 on hand according to BS. i stopped by on my way home from work & they had 3.

not in the clearance or garden sections. they were located on the shelf in the outdoor/sports department.
