If you currently have any kind of Saphire personal card that is active, you will NOTqualify for bonus points, even if you are approved.
If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull Smilie

Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
95 af is not waived for first year basically previously it was 50k with 95 waived first year now it's 60k with 95 af so pretty much the same
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc
It is pretty straightforward. When you use your card for ANY travel purchase (like Airbnb, airfare, hotels, Lyft, Uber, parking, some tolls, and many others), you will automatically be reimbursed, until you've spent a total of $300 on travel. In other words, Chase will pay for the first $300 in travel you spend each year with your card.

CHASE will not cover cancellation due to coronavirus even if you have cold/flu with weak immune system. I have a medical certificate where my doctor advised me to not travel and Chase will not honor that. Definitely disappointed as my friends were covered by their banks.

In the FAQ it says they will follow what the carrier has put forth. Haven't been able to confirm though as it is impossible to get through. Booked LAX-Paris first week of April for my family of four using CSR points. Most likely will get a voucher good for a year as my friend has the same situation and she got the Air France voucher useable for one year usable on KLM and Delta as well. Won't even try getting though again for another few days. Booked the ticket a couple months ago.

The card this thread is about, the CSP, only gives you 1.25 cents per point in the portal.

It's the CSR that is 1.5.

And if you cancel it you lose that and you're back to 1 cent via freedom. More importantly you lose the ability to transfer them to hotels and airlines- which usually gets you better value than the 1.25 or 1.5x in the portal does anyway.

You can freely move your points between cards BTW

Also- there's no reason to switch to a slate- it's a garbage card other than the 0% BT signup offer. If you are going to downgrade get something useful like a freedom unlimited or a second Freedom (to get another $1500 per quarter 5x cap)

Chase points don't expire as long as your card is open.

Booking with points vs. cash in the portal doesn't really change anything protections-wise.

So you can move your freedom points to CSP to higher redemption? Also, Im wondering if I lose the points I earned on my CSP if I cancelled it... at an addional .25% im calculating I'd need to spent 40k on it a year to make up that difference ( $100 annual fee)

You can freely move UR points between any cards in your account- so yes if planning to use the portal you'd transfer them to the card with the best rate of return.

As I say though the ability to transfer to airlines and hotels- where you often get 1.5-2 cents a point on the low end (for hotels and coach fares) and 4-6 cents a point on business class, is where the paid cards tend to show the most value.

Right now though, given airlines have slashed flights 80-100% depending on the airline, and fares were being slashed super low right before that, so it's tough to predict what will be "worth" doing for the near future.

You can always product change BACK to a CSP (or CSR) if you want to make a large transfer/redemption later.

There's really no reason to ever cancel a card though unless it's so that you can apply for a new one of the same card and earn the bonus again. Product changing to a free card is almost always a better option otherwise.

So I should keep the card so I can transfer my freedom points to my CSP?

Yea I only planned to cancel to get the card again as this would be my second year with it.

I guess I'll just cancel my Chase SW personal and business as they were 69 and 99 respectively and you can still retain your RR points and CP

Yup- I routinely move all the points from our various freedom and ink cards over to my CSR for max value.

You can't get a new sapphire card until it's been 48 months since your last sapphire bonus... (it used to be 24 months like the other chase cards, but this changed to 48, specifically for sapphire cards, a while ago)

I don't personally find any value in keeping the SW cards after you get the CP, they're not worth putting normal spend on and the value of the points for renewing doesn't quite equal the annual fee.

Thank you buddy. I wasnt aware the 5/24 rule changed or about the swapping of points to one card or another.

The clock already started the day you were approved (account opening date).

I have an international flight in May but the airlines suspended the flights until June due to current situation. Do anyone know if I'm covered until Chase travel protection since the airlines themselves cancelled the flight? I booked my ticket through a travel agent and those guys are giving me hard time.
