If you currently have any kind of Saphire personal card that is active, you will NOTqualify for bonus points, even if you are approved.
If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull
Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
95 af is not waived for first year basically previously it was 50k with 95 waived first year now it's 60k with 95 af so pretty much the same
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc
It is pretty straightforward. When you use your card for ANY travel purchase (like Airbnb, airfare, hotels, Lyft, Uber, parking, some tolls, and many others), you will automatically be reimbursed, until you've spent a total of $300 on travel. In other words, Chase will pay for the first $300 in travel you spend each year with your card.

I have the preferred card already. My wife is an authorized user on my account but she's never officially signed up for a chase credit card. I was wondering if she signs up, will she qualify for the bonus? Or does being an authorized user in my preferred card disqualified her. Thanks.
I have the same question. did she qualify for bonus?
If ur student loan provider takes CC, then yes. But you need to review if they charge you a fee for using a CC. And if so, does that wipe out any points you get?
And if your student loan provider doesn't take CC, is this the best CC to use?
Do you think this is the best card to pay for braces? My costs will be around 5000. I already put 500 down.
I also wanted to travel more this year but with covid I'm not so sure the reserve card will be that beneficial to have this year than the preferred.

The Reserve would still be better:
- Pay yourself back at $1.5c per point.
- $300 easy travel credit. Till December 31, 2020, gas station and grocery store purchases will also count toward earning Travel Credit.
- $60 Doordash credit
- Global Entry / TSA Precheck ($100 / $85)
- Primary car rental insurance
- Lyft Pink membership

If you can pay for your braces via credit card with no additional fee, I'd definitely be exploring applying for a new CC like this one to capitalize on the sign up bonus.
There's numerous blogs detailing which of the Preferred or Reserved would be right for a person and their plans, so maybe check those out before deciding. A lot more people are focused on cash back bonuses nowadays, but I still think either of those cards would be good to get, even if you don't plan to travel for 6 months to a year (or more). I've also seen posts of people who were able to double dip and get the CSP and CSR in consecutive days (so would get 110k bonus after spending $8K in the first 3 months).

Which is a good cash back card? I havent seen many of those on the fp.

The best cash back cards usually don't have very good sign up bonuses, so I think most people go for the big bonus credit cards and then downgrade them to the cash back cards.
These would be ones like Citi Double Cash, Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Discover It.
The last CSP I had, I product changed it to a Chase Freedom.

It's a good card to use if that helps you get the bonus. Meaning you need to spend this money anyway, plan on spending, but otherwise don't spend enough to earn the bonus.
So if you want this bonus, then yes!
If you "ignore" the bonus (either you already earned or for some reason don't care about) then I'd say it is only "heh" for this type of spend. You will only earn 1 point per dollar on this spend. Obviously better than 0 as on debit card, writing a check or whatever. But something like the Freedom Unlimited gets you 1.5 Cash/points per dollar.
Note - the freedom unlimited is a cash back card. However, if you have a CSP or CSR you can convert to points.
Or the Citi-double cash gives you 2 cents per dollar back (1 when u spend, 1 when you pay).
Now, a very common plan for people like you assuming your just starting this game (or have a lot of "out of category" spend) is to get something like the CSP and use your normal spend to earn the sign up bonus. Then once that is done and a few months later, apply for the Freedom Unlimited and move that "daily" spend to it. This will earn 1.5 rather than 1 which you can use for cash or convert to points.
I'm in process of doing that myself. I have approx $xxxx in monthly "utility" spend every single month (insurance, electric, water, internet, streaming, cell phone, etc). I've used it to get bonus on SWA Priority Card and the CSR. Now that I have those bonus's, I'll get a CFU, put all that "utility" spend on it (to earn 1.5x instead of 1x) and only use the other two cards for specific category spend (mainly travel, and restaurants).
Can you explain how this works and is it still working?
It is working, yes. Apply for one of the sapphires in day 1. Once you have confirmed you've been approved via the status line, the following day around noon-ish/morning, apply for the second.
Nope they fixed that loophole. People used to apply both card on the same day to avoid the restriction. Now they would cancel one of your applications or make you call in to decide which one you want before approving any of them.
I'm counting 2 years by this October with chase sapphire reserve and had accumulated some 30k points. Now I'm no longer willing to pay annual fees as it's increased to 450 per year so will downgrade it to chase freedom or something with no AF. What's the best way to do that without impacting the reward points and also get $300 travel credit. I'm sure most of you have done that by now. Appreciate your feedback.

Just make sure to use the travel credit before you downgrade. And be aware that once you downgrade to a card like CF, you won't be able to transfer all of those points to travel partners, pay yourself back at the higher rate, etc.
