If you currently have any kind of Saphire personal card that is active, you will NOTqualify for bonus points, even if you are approved.
If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull
Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
95 af is not waived for first year basically previously it was 50k with 95 waived first year now it's 60k with 95 af so pretty much the same
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc
It is pretty straightforward. When you use your card for ANY travel purchase (like Airbnb, airfare, hotels, Lyft, Uber, parking, some tolls, and many others), you will automatically be reimbursed, until you've spent a total of $300 on travel. In other words, Chase will pay for the first $300 in travel you spend each year with your card.

Just make sure to use the travel credit before you downgrade. And be aware that once you downgrade to a card like CF, you won't be able to transfer all of those points to travel partners, pay yourself back at the higher rate, etc.
Thanks for your response. During this Pandemic traveling is a questionable idea so I was wondering if there's a workaround to capitalize on that travel credit without traveling. Are you also suggesting to cash out the reward points before downgrading it

The travel credit can be used towards groceries and gas stations until the end of the year, so you probably shouldn't have any trouble spending that money before you downgrade. More info: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ch...0-renewal/
And yes, before I downgraded a CSR to a CF, I moved a lot of my UR points to a travel partner that I knew we'd be using down the road (Hyatt in my case). You still earn URs with the CF and a decent amount with the rotating 5% categories, but you lose the ability to transfer them to travel partners without a Sapphire card.
it does. research the topic on search engine sites and you will find the info. or dm me. would prefer keeping this info out of slickdeal/chase affiliate threads.
I've come to avoid chase cards. Their customer service is atrocious. When something actually needs real customer service it's abysmal. I've spent 6 months trying to get a trip refunded and they keep stalling or asking for same papers repeatedly (trip cancellation travel insurance included on the card is supposed to be their "big benefit"). Then I had big issues with their bank and trying to just close an account.
Chase Never again. They've become too big imho. Stick to Amex or any other brand. Chase is just horrible.
You are conflating the issue. The "travel insurance" piece is outsourced by Chase to a third party, so they are the ones screwing you over. Don't blame the wrong party!

Wrong. I'm dealing with chase reps. Last week just found out the chase reps lied and Only submitted the request to the airline two weeks ago. Previously they said it was months ago and it was the airline fault. Nope. Chase was lying.
And this isnt even addressing my horrible experience with their bank.
Look around online. Chase is horrific with customer service issues.
Any easy way to spend $3k to trigger the bonus before the end of the month? š³ā ļø
Could always buy gift cards, like to Amazon or your local grocery store. But $3K is a lot, so you'd most likely need to venture into the world of manufactured spending to hit it in a few weeks.

Those aren't Chase reps either. They're Expedia agents.

And this matters ? End result the card service is horrible, whether it's a secondary party or not doesn't matter. This is the actual service being provided and Chase is ok with it.
P.s. Dont get me started on their bank service....just awful.
There are many (if any) financial institutions that have "amazing" or even good customer service. People only complain when there is an issue (actual or perceived).
I got my first Chase card in very late December. Literally days after receiving the sign up bonus doubled. I emailed them and they were "happy" to honor the new bonus. And since that bonus was nearly double what I had signed up for, it was a big deal! Easily worth 3 additional one-way tickets, maybe 4. And they certainly didn't have to do that.
My 2nd Chase card I got about 2.5 months ago, the CSR. Since the pandemic, they have offered more and more ways to use the travel credit, earn bonus points outside of travel, etc. Again, not anything they had to do.
I'm very pleased with them and regret not getting cards from them sooner.
Yes. You called another SDer wrong when they were 100% correct. You also accused a Chase rep of lying, and it wasn't a Chase rep. You would have the identical issue with the Expedia rep if you booked directly with Expedia. Your issue has nothing to do with Chase.
If you want help with your problem, describe it, and perhaps someone can provide advice. It does no one any good if you just clench your fists, scream nonsensically at the sky, and blame everyone else for your own problems.

Enjoy your chase card. It's great provided you don't actually use any of their claimed services/features.
Oh and it was a chase rep. I don't care what you claim it being some third party etc cause it wasn't. I called. The rep answered and proceeded to "do stuff"
Screaming? Uh no but I have a right do. Blame everyone else, uh wtf are you talking about? It's been 8 months now I've been dealing with chase and that includes calls, formal letters, emails etc. the sum total of your help is "oh it's not chase that is some other third party"
Not sure why you're so hot to trot to defend them. Let's see how you do when you need actual advanced features (lets use that name). Yeah adjusting a welcome bonus isn't a service it's being nice, nor is more ways to spend points. So I will call it using "card features", they make it a royal pain in the butt.
I am just sharing my experience so folks dont think its this amazing travel card, when it is not once you are outside their "automatically provided features/services."

Ive used many other features. I only mentioned those two good experience I have. For example, love the Doorsash credit and Lyft (last year I spent $1,000+ on Uber so getting that 15% is a big deal).
Interesting you say "you have the right" but don't think I have the same right. You belittle my experiences claim on your bad experience "must" apply to everyone.
The real key to benefits on any card, is actually reading the fine print and knowing how the benefits work. Having said that, you may have a legitimate issue. You may not. But it certainly cannot be used to illustrate "it is a bad card". That would be like me saying all Firestone tires are bad because I had a blow out. It's nonsense.
And again, you can find complaints on ever CC including the Amex Platnium a s Citibank cards. No one makes a website to show "good experiences".
Anyone knows the break-even point for CSR compared to CSP? Currently have CSP for more than a year and thinking should I switch, but honestly the $550 annual fee is too much compared to $95 for CSP. I dont know if it's worth it, especially during the pandemic like now.
