Im Bored has some good info to share for those interested in the firmware, thanks Im bored!

Quote from Im bored :
So these (LVS-DHPTK3682W-28) actually seem to be Dahua IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE. Mine came with 2.622.10SU005.0.R, Build Date: 2018-04-18 firmware. I contacted LaView support to see if they can provide a copy of the firmware just so I can have it in case issues would arise in the future but the Indian lady on the other end said they don't have any firmware to provide and that the cameras have the latest firmware, which how did she know what firmware was on the actual camera since I never told her.

I went looking for Dahua OEM firmware and this seems to be the latest at the moment (2018-12-28):

Here is a revision from (2018-05-23):
https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/201...hea.30305/

I have been running this firmware for 24h and no problems so far, just an FYI.

Here is a comparison:

I will be keeping Dahua OEM firmware as I bet LaView will never provide any updates or fixes.

FYI -

This is using the same imaging chip family as the Dahua OEM 2MP starlight cameras. ( update: note - not the same imaging chip, but a chip from the same "family" )

1/2.5" progressive scan STARVIS™ CMOS

Note, due to 8MP there are more pixels on the chip - thus the pixel size is smaller than the 2MP Dahua OEM starlights. ( so if everything else is the same, the 2MP starlight model should do better in low light )

You can compare this to the various Lorex "Color Night" vision cameras which are using the same imaging chip and are 8MP.

btw - the "4k"/8MP and 30 fps cameras iirc were using a 1/1.8" imaging chip ( thus should perform better in low light vs the 1/2.5" and 8MP cameras )

nuance - note, more to imaging than just the chip size - f-shot, dsp, ... lots more. So just take this as a general comparison. See if you can find a side by side comparison if you are interested in really seeing the real world results.

update:
Mobile App: iDMSS Lite or gDMSS Lite - hmm, these are Dahua software products - this camera appears to be a Dahua OEM camera. It is a good deal.

Compare to what B&H is carrying:

Compare to the Dahua OEM IPC-HDW48xx model. ( look at the specs and compare you may find a close match )
Mat, I'm sick of looking at cameras and not buying anything. Tell us what you buy. I want POE and want to be able to see faces and license plates ~30ft away and in the dark. Turret, bullet, dome, 4k whatever. Need another one for above my front door for visitors. Start a youtube channel and sell yourself already.

@mat2000 any thoughts on these. I like the slightly wider angle for my deck and close driveway

Not specific to this camera but just a general question had a Crook look right at the camera but it was night and black and white the police said they couldn't do anything. The camera was about 20 ft away from the crook, what resolution would be needed to make a clear enough identification of someone at night to police? The cameras were bullet 5mp for reference.

How do these compare to Hikvision 8MP turrets? They look identical... probably get made in the same factory in China.

Hi MBis

It is not a question of resolution of the camera - but effective resolution on a facial image capture. The standard is 100 ppf ( pixels per feet ) for a good chance of a facial IDable image.

Hi Kai

See the 4 camera + NVR kit.. good deal at $549.60 after the discount.
( 4*120 = 480 for the cameras, + $70 for the NVR - that's a very nice deal )

Cheaper than if you ordered this from Chinese vendors on Ali / ebay / amazon

The spec look very close to this one. If so it's really good deal. Selling $140+ from AliExpress.

Ok I'm in for one to replace my aging and recently fogging up Hikvision. Fingers crossed it's as reliable as the Hikvision was for almost 7 years of 24/7 recording.

Do these have PIR? I forget what it stands for buts it's a form of IR which reduces false alarms.
