Home depot has the newest Ryobi brushless 18v chainsaw on sale for $149.

I bought this a few months ago for $199, and I think its a great chainsaw - surprising power for 18v, lightweight, and tool-less chain tightening.

Did a quick chat with HD and they credited me the price difference.

Also, the tool only with no battery is on sale for $119, but I think the 4ah battery is worth the extra $30.

Will this legit cut down a tree? Clearing some land and I have a Ryobi gas chainsaw 14" is this anywhere near capable of cutting small trees.

Smaller trees, I'm sure. I have a battery powered echo and it's capable of cutting through some thick oak, but they overheat and you have to let them cool down for a while. I'm sure the Ryobi is similar. The echo cuts through 10" or less like butter.. but that battery runs out too quick on a 58v 4a. I can only imagine how quick the 18vs run out.

HP batteries? What is that? I'm a Ryobi fan but don't know what that is.

How big are the trees? Personally I would use a chainsaw with a bigger bar unless they're baby trees.

Yeah I'm probably going to pass on this. Nothing wrong with my gas Ryobi

I've cut down a 10"-12" round cedar with the standard 18v chainsaw. Cut it all up into 3ft long logs. It was about 20' tall.

If you are cutting down medium or large trees for your land clearing project maybe consider buying an 18" or 20" gas powered chainsaw from a decent manufacturer like Echo or Stihl. In the long run, you will save time & money. Less time wasted changing batteries, cooling the motor & cutting through the branches at a slow pace. Money saved because you won't have to toss this thing in the trash when it burns out from cutting down the forest. In my opinion, the battery-powered saws are ok for small urban or suburban yards where you need to to do some quick storm clean up or tree pruning. They are also great for the Ryobi collectors.worship

I will wait for the Ryobi day. The battery and charger do worth $30, but I got them free last time and I have 3 chargers and 4 batteries already.
