Pretty decent deal on a gaming PC if you do not want to build one yourself.

https://www.microcenter.com/produ...p-computer

PowerSpec G354

Intel Core i7-8700k Processor 3.7GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070Ti 8GB GDDR5
16GB DDR4 RAM
500GB Solid State Drive
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

$999.99 before taxes.

Also motherboard is Z370 (ASRock Z370 Fatality K6) so system would be overclockable.

It is a good deal for 8700k. It is almost impossible to build this PC with exact same specs for cheaper than this.

Mismatch between the CPU and GPU if you're only interested in mainstream AAA games. That said, you can do what I did with a Microcenter prebuilt and just take the card out and sell it. The actual construction of these units is super solid--everything in mine was wired neatly. Although, they did cheap out a little bit on the PSU with a Bronze Coolermaster that ended up having ridiculous buzzing issues about 6 months in. Hopefully this one has an EVGA or something decent. Almost impossible to tell before purchasing though, as the 'same' build could have slightly different components depending on which location it's purchased from. Might be worth taking a chance on because there is, in fact, almost no risk.

Microcenter has an excellent return policy.

FYI: Be careful with Microcenter extended warranties. With an extended warranty, they will charge you a $35 diagnostic fee when you bring it in for service no matter what the problem, even if you tell them the power supply died.

The warranty means you have to take the pc all the way down to Microcenter for repair, for me, that's a 2-hour ride, leave it there usually for few days or a week and wait till they call you to come to pick it back up.

That being said, PowerSpec brand has a high return rate. The one by me, for example, has this same PowerSpec G354 for $849.96 open box. If you buy an open box, walk it over to the tech center and open it up and make sure all the parts are inside.

Part List: http://www.powerspec.com/systems/...ction=G354

We bought an open box and the M.2 drive and ram were swapped out for a no-name junk you can get off eBay. Microcenter does a piss poor job of inspecting returns.

The unit comes with a Cooler Master 600W PS that will start to make ticking sounds in about 6 months, it also comes with GSkill Ram that is supposed to be DDR4-3000, but the bios will show it as DDR4-2666. Bios update should fix that.

The M.2 drive should be a Crucial MX500.. Finally, they use a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 CPU cooler that doesn't keep the temps down as well as Noctua or Scythe.

So you will have to replace the power supply and CPU cooler and also clean up the cables and Microcenter has no idea how to do proper cable management.

On a $1000 pc, the extended warranty cost about $200-$250, save that money and use it for spare parts.

The front fans on this case have a bright blue color and are annoying, you will need to replace those also.

Some people might think I am being too picky here, maybe, but for $1000, I am expecting quality parts. I would also sell the GPU as fast as possible.

Parts Breakdown:
ASRock Z370 Gaming-ITX/AC $200
Intel Core i7-8700K $380
G.SKILL Aegis Ram $80
Crucial MX500 M.2 $70
Cooler Master Masterwatt Lite 600W PS $60.00
ZOTAC or Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Ti $470
Cooler Master Evo Hyper 212 CPU Cooler $25.
Case $30
Asus DVDRW Optical: $23
Windows 10 Pro: $50

How is the CPU and GPU mismatched for AAA games?

Agreed. That GPU does great at 1080p and 2k gaming. And unless someone is dropping $700+ on the GPU alone they're not going to get high frames at 4K.

The CPU can push far more frames at 1440p than the GPU would ever be capable of producing? Most AAA games are GPU bound? A 8700k cries out for a 1080/2070 at bare minimum, or preferably, a 1080ti or 2080. I got a 2080 from Frys with the 20% off coupon for $583 pre tax a month or so ago. That would be a far more powerful build for an extra couple hundred bucks.

The only way an 8700k makes sense with a 1070ti is at 1080p resolution and then honestly, what's the point?

i just picked this up a few days ago, for $889 open box. Mines did not come with the G Skill DDR4 nor the m.2 solid state drive. I may consider selling the 1070ti and pick up a RTX 2070. And yes, I did get the 2 year warranty in case if anything happens (warranty was about $150 bucks).

The same store sells basically the same computer, minus the GPU for $699.

I've seen this deal for a week and was shocked it wasn't posted earlier. An 8700K and 1070 ti for under a $1000, I don't recall seeing a deal like it. Powerspec also uses better components than many of the other brands.

Very detail review. Why would you sell the GPU asap?
