Just received word about 40 minutes from posting this and stopped by my local in Bay Area, CA. Looks like they have about 30's on hand in select warehouses.

If you're in the Bay Area, there's stock in Hayward, Redwood City, South SF (i think SFO), Almaden, and Automation.

Item Number: 763242

Didn't see this deal until just now, but there wasn't any Yamazaki at the Santa Clara store tonight, didn't seem like they stocked it. They had Hibiki and Suntory Toki for the usual prices.

Actually I got the last one. They had 12 I believe. I was not even aware they had one. Some guy at the register nearby was buying one, and the supervisor around the register told one of the cashiers that there's one last yamazaki left. I heard it and just screamed I'm buying it. They radioed it to the guy in the back and I got the display bottle. By the way this was on Tuesday evening at about 5:30 pm

Checked Alhambra, California. They said it was a deleted SKU? Meaning they probably wont be getting any because there is no order.

Seems like redwood City is the only location getting 30 plus bottles as of last night. The info I saw previously for SF and NE San Jose is no longer valid. Didn't have chance to check if they actually got them and sold out.

Anyone in the Bay Area that snagged a Yamazaki interested in trading for a Hakushu 12? Had picked one up for my brother but he didn't want it after all.

The space is just leased out to another company called Western Beverage, not as good of a selection or prices compared Costco run stores in other states. TX has some weird laws about companies operating liquor stores.
MBP1, that is a nice informative reply! I liked it.

I got Hakushu 12 last year and found it to be underwhelming for the price. Can anyone who has tried both Hakushu 12 and Yamazaki 12 shed some light on the differences and if there is a preference of one over other?

It's ultimately subjective. I have friends who have a preference for one over the other, and that one friend who thinks the Suntory Toki is the best. Enjoy it for what it is!

The two are entirely different in taste. Hakushu is a very unique spirit that is typically appreciated by a mature palate. It took me some years to develop an affinity for complexity vs. smoothness. The second aspect is heat vs. harshness with stronger "cask strength" spirits. Sampling sure is fun!

Totally wish I could put together a little sampling session, but my alcohol tolerance would probably leave my taste buds shot after a few little sips

If you have a less experienced pallet like myself, Hakushu is very peaty and taste very similar to ardbeg or similar scotches. If you like something sweeter and smoother, you would like Yamazaki.

Just had my friend try the Hibiki for the first time yesterday. He actually loved it and thought he wouldn't cause he's a tequila guy.

Me, I'm a Hibiki guy through and through. Did a blind taste test and always picked Hibiki over the other 2. So you might like Hibiki right now. I will say, I would only buy a Hibiki 17 yr for the bottle not for the taste as its not much discernible from the NAS (Harmony).
