This is correct. Tracfone is only for light users. With Google Hangouts and WiFi, one can still can get a lot done with this plan.

All depends on your usage. personally I use most of my data on wifi so I would rather have 3 GB to use over a year instead of 250 mb a month where I might only use 100 mb one month and the next I need 1 GB for traveling.

No. I really, really like the tracfone flexibility of there not being a monthly quota. I like having the option of 600 minutes in a "busy" month.
I'd say neither is "better" or "worse"; they're different. Red Pocket gives you more data over the course of the year. Tracfone gives you more flexibility as to when you use your minutes/texts/data. Which is better FOR YOU will depend on how you use your phone.

My current Tracfone account has triple minutes. I understand these minutes don't triple. If I transfer my existing minutes to this sim will I lose my triple minutes on future loads?
Yes you will lose TMFL.

I kinda figured that's what would happen. Thanks for the quick answer.

I apologize if this has been answered before - does the card/sim expire? i have no immediate need for it, but very tempted... also not sure which carrier to select for that same reason... TIA for any feedback!
From what I have read, you have about one year from the date of purchase to activate.

I currently have a Net10 locked phone and want to buy the full year 5gb plan for $240 from Net10. Can I just pop the new sim in and "transfer" my existing net10 phone number to the new sim?

I have the same question. Does anyone here know the answer?
Same question. We have 6 TracFone users in our family.

No, it is for a full year of service.
Why not just get the free plan on Freeup with 1000 minutes/text per month?

1200 minutes + 1200 texts + 3GB data per year for $49, that is a shitty deal.

How much do you pay for a year of service?

Actually it's a great deal for TracFone users, more data than before & lower price. As long as you don't live on your phone & balance with wifi it works for a lot of people.

No tracfone triples 1200 min. Same price as a 400 card tripled. Do any newer tracfones triple anymore?

Haven't sold new triple minute phones for almost 2 years, the older ones (maybe Android 6?) were cleared out a while ago. People still using those old phones need to update to something current.

Why this is better than Red Pocket's 100min/100txt/500mb per month, for $60 a year (everyday price)? You can argue that an annual lump sum is more suitable for a burst usage for any given month. But people who buy this kind of plan are typically low usage or only for emergency use. 500mb of mobile data per month is generally plenty for facebooking, chatting or emails without videos.
If sometime I need to use more than 500MB, I should go with TF because TF allow me to buy 1GB of data for $10 anytime I want?
