Yeah I think a huge part of it was selling it at the same price point as the Bose QC35 IIs and the Sony XM1003's. After reading a lot of online reviews it seems like if the price were a lot lower and you don't care about Alexa or Google Assistance enabled then these could be for you.

An absolute steal at $100 off ...Cortana about to get a 10x brain transplant (see build 2019) and these Headphones are recommended by Panos Panay himself as one of his favorites. So pumped for this deal.

Panos is also directly responsible for Surface products which are great. So by that logic, these Surface Headphones will be great too. It's rare they (Surface brand) get a 30% discount. This is a temporary discount.

He has pretty good taste in other words and Surface devices exude quality.
As for "hipster doofus" I don't see that. I feel his teams Surface devices basically gave guidance to what's next and saved the PC industry.
