Additional info: The older DFR 6 & 7 units use essentially the same guts as the newer versions, which are the DFR 8 and DFR 9. The primary difference between the older units and the newer versions are the different case design and display. (OLED on the newer versions.) Functionally, the older units are the same as the newer ones.

I have had an 8500, replaced it with the Passport Max 2, replaced that with the Uniden LRD950 and it blew away the Escorts performance. This is newer than the LRD950. I will be buying another Uniden, unless there are major changes I won't purchase another Escort.
The new Unidens are expensive but probably worth it so I'm saving up. Will give my current Uniden to my daughter.
Dude, Miami is like Mexico. They'll run you off the road if you drive slow. I hate driving in Miami.
Not just slow. You have to be always aware. A car in front of you is going fast and all of the sudden it wants to go 20 under the speed limit with one brake light gone bad. I know the feeling. In Dominican Republic it is horrible as well.
