TL; DR emelvee paid to have low level "celebrity" convince his daughter to go to college
Cameo hooks up with various (mostly) minor stars/has-beens/online personalities to produce short amateur videos about whatever you ask them to say. Often people do it to have some "famous" reality TV "star" say happy birthday to a friend/whoever. The cost is set by the "talent"; most seem to be $10 to $100; the more in demand/famous/infamous, generally the higher the cost.
Our daughter is very anxious about going away to college. She's been debating living at home and going to a community college for a couple of years, or going straight to a four year university. She applied to just one college, a state university here in NC, which happens to be one of the more selective state universities. When she got accepted, she said she was still thinking about going to community college first. I think going away to school will be live-changing and that she would enjoy it, so I've been encouraging her to remain open to starting as a freshman at a four year school.
So...she loves Impractical Jokers on TruTV. Her favorite character is "Joe"...but Joe isn't on Cameo so I had to settle for "Murr." He made an EXCELLENT video for her, much longer than I expected (over two minutes), a mix of humor and sincerity. He really did a great job. Our daughter loved the video. She has been "onboard" with going away for school ever since (though she is still anxious about it).
