Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.
Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:
$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included
2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.
Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

At least ATTCares on twitter tried to help me. They weren't able to make account changes for the bonus data, so they referred me to the CS number.
I think CS is stalling now until they find a fix for the issue.

I have a few thoughts. I wonder if activating over the phone if you are porting a phone number would be better than activating on their website? Because I know for certain that AT&T's online prepaid activation does not have the option to port a number, you can only choose a new phone number. Maybe it has something to do with porting after setting up the account & getting a new phone number? I have no idea, just thinking out loud.

1-call in and have them port initially without ever getting a temp number
or
2-activate the line, then call porting department at 8888987685 (not regular CS) and have them port your number. You may need to wait a bit to let port go through, then fund the plan.
I'm thinking Google Voice may be the answer. I've used GV for years but always with a secondary number, maybe that should be my primary and I would not be hostage to these cell providers. It works great nowadays, better in some cases(texts with large attachments)
I may try one more time in a couple weeks. I'm thinking this promo will not end before July 11 but has anyone heard a firm end date?

So if I get in on this deal and things go south, can I take my phone to any AT&T store and ask for assistance? Or will have have to return to Walmart and deal with another one of their brainless cretins?
