It's for encrypting your internet traffic so that your ISP and any other snoopers cannot see what you are doing online. PIA is based outside the USA so you are not going to see them give up your data to that particular government. It does slow down your internet speed a little to a lot depending on the node you pick (closer the better usually) and can help you get past geo-locked content (location based content) if the DRM does not catch you. Hulu picks up on PIA so you'll have to either turn it off when watching or make an exception for it to allow that particular traffic without the vpn. VPN is a Virtual Private Network and PIA allows up to 5 concurrent instances using the same username/password at the same time meaning 5 different devices can be running PIA. You can install it on more that 5 but you are still limited to 5 concurrent instances (Same time) so if all are taken up at the moment the 6th+ wont be able to connect.
For those wanting to add extension to their account via this deal

Use a different email to buy, then change your original accounts email to this email, contact CS at PIA, they'll need you key code, then they'll extend you
Not entirely true. They were subpoenaed by the FBI and did not produce anything. https://www.scribd.com/doc/303226...eat-arrest

Not the best. It is US based, so it can potentially be snooped by The Man. Not very stable and geolocked services don't work with it. I'm dumping it the end of this month and going back to Express VPN.
When you say "geolocked services don't work with it," do you mean services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Videos, which is location dependent won't work with it? I have found that most VPN services don't work with Netflix.

Been using this for over 6 years and share it with the family, works incredibly well especially with torrents.

Reliable for me, and they have measures in place to avoid snooping.

People always want an outsourced provider, but take IPVanish for example based in the USA. They claim they have no logs so how on Earth can they give up info that supposedly doesn't exist? You'd have a lawsuit on your hands if that ever happened. The only logs are email they claim.

I said "potentially." Since it is based in the US, it is possible that the company could be forced by the feds to do something it professes it won't. Such as logging specific accounts. Foreign companies are much more beyond the reach of Uncle Sam.
