With all these nvme ssd going on sale there should be a tier list so we know which one to buy.

This for sure.

Man they weren't kidding when they said SSD's were going to drop in price. Paid $150 each for two of these about 3-1/2 months ago. EEK!

Wow, it just gets cheaper and cheaper, fast too. I wonder when it's going to bottom out. I opted for the newer EX950 at around $130 since I'm a sucker for "newer" parts. But this is a great deal.

If SSDs are going down, RAM will continue to as well.

I think some of the drop is the newer controllers and also the PCIe 4.0 are coming out soon for the newer AMD systems. July 7th will be a great day.

Definately not the 660p.
Inland should be just as good or slightly better in theory if you're talking about the phison e12, especially if you regularly visit Microcenter. Compare warranties I guess.
I would go with HP personally because it's proven, but Inland should be close if not theoretically better.

HP uses Crucial/Intel (same tech) 64 layer 3D nand. Phison e12 uses Toshiba 96 layer 3D nand. 2D or planar nand is basically obsolete

damn i have a dilemma. I have an x470 msi mobo with the first m.2 slot is occupied by a samsung evo 970 500gb as boot drive. My second slot m.2 wont get full speeds and will top put at 1800mb/s read and write or less.

I dont feel like upgrading my mobo just yet so options are

-> Get the intel 660p... but damn i really dont like that cache issue when drive fills up/runs out.
- 2tb option is cheap but qlc

Or

->Get something like this... if the 2tb nvme is around 200 price range for tlc

I'm really starting to look at the Inland 1TB NVMe drive. Amazon users report the 1TB version has roughly 3000MBps read AND write. $98 in store or $105 on Amazon.

Inland warranty is through Microcenter. HP is through ???? Who knows...

I bought this drive about 6 months ago and it works great. I would absolutely recommend for $105. I bought it at $135. Might not be great for high daily writes though.

Have same config like yours. Got the intel 660p for my 2nd m2 slot. I only paid $90 for it. No difference in real world perf compared to my evo or ssd. Benchmark are just for bragging rights. Copied a 120gb data to intel 660p and took 80 secs. Guess how long it took my 500gb evo 970 rated at 3.4GB/s read and 2.3GB/s write? 3 minutes! After exhausting the puny 18GB slc cache on evo, the write drops to 600MB/s.

Buy the cheapest one with the large slc cache. I think intel660p and ex920 fit that description.

The 660p tops at 1800-1900MB/s anyways, looks perfect for your second slot in terms of speed fit.
