Some cons that have kept me from purchasing:
- Trackpad has issues registering clicks, this is a known issue all over the web
- Speakers are super quiet and on the bottom of the laptop
- SSD is slower than some Macbook models from 5 years ago, necessitating at least $100 SSD replacement which would then need to be uninstalled if an issue arises with the laptop
- Glossy screen
Other than those aforementioned cons, this laptop is pretty great, just wanted to give those on the fence some things to consider
And for those with an older Macbook/Macbook Air who are sick of waiting on Apple to fix their keyboards something to think about: This laptop weighs about the same as the older design of the Macbook Air (2013-2017) except the Air is 13" and this is 17" to give you an idea of how light it really is
The glossy screen is borderline unusable in many environments. The downfiring speakers are absolutely terrible. The keyboard and touchpad are average at best. And lastly the SATA SSD is substandard at this price point.

Just picked up a 2TB Sabrent NVME ssd for $240+ tax. Will install tonight and install a fresh copy of Win 10 Pro.
Thank you!
Not sure it is such a loss once you get to 17"

I'll install the Samsung 970 EVO NVME drive ($97 from Fry's) in the second slot and upgrade to WIN 10 Pro. It should be a decent travel companion for ~$1200 after cash back.
oh so tempted but i'm going on vacation this weekend and i wonder if the deal will still be there when i get back on Tuesday?
