This is a decent set for the newbie woodworker. My only complaint is the aluminum table scratches wood (especially soft wood) as you push across. Solution (for me anyway), is I put blue painters tape across almost the entire top and just left the adjustment hole and bit hole open so i can replace the plate. Other than that, add a coupon to this (if they still exist) and you have an amazing deal on a router table.

I have been looking for decent starter router to have around as there are lots of times that I really could have used one. The only question is whether to get one that has plunge or not?

I keep this in the table and do not remove. You can always get a separate plunge router when one goes onsale. Having a router in a table is very convenient
I agree with aceshigh. I've had this router about a month and I'm blown away by how useful it is. I also have a cordless Makita router that cost about as much which is great, but the corded Kobalt (as one might expect) is much more powerful. It also accepts 1/4" and 1/2" shank bits. Now for the negative... the fence is a little fussy. The accessories are not exceptional. The router speed is fixed. None of those are deal-breakers in my opinion, especially for the price. If you set it up right, it'll do the job.
i have the blue hawk version of this, that right.. prior to kobalt which is now being replaced by craftsman. This value is unmatched. A router table is extremely useful, and at this size its easy to pack it away on a high shelf. I have a $1000 router table setup in my garage, yet this still sees use. It also travels well, so makes its way into the field. Its hilarious the comments people make, achingly similar to yours above.. a few hours later they are begging to use it.

No where did I say it was a POS or anything about the functionality.....only the fact that the picture makes it look like a toy workbench....
Decided to try a $20 off $100 coupon for the first time on this yesterday. I don't have the receipt on me but it only marked it down from $129 to about $122. Receipt said "minimum retail price", just an fyi.

Heh. I used a coupon and it brought the price down to 117 including tax. Guess it is something new.
Picked mine up yesterday based on the great reviews here. Coupon brought it down to $117. Those of you who built Shaker cabinet doors what bits did you use? Amazon has pages of Chinese shaker bit sets but nothing really stands out. I am sure the Bosch and Freud are great but if one of the more "affordable" bit sets will get me through making 7 doors for my initial project I would be pretty happy. Built 3 on my cheap table saw but my results were inconsistent; hoping this router table will be more precise.
