One cause of problems last time was when SIM card activated did not match SIM card listed on Amazon order. The SIM card kit comes with three SIM cards, but only one is listed on your Amazon order.

One of my activations that i did through chat activated the new device with the simcard it came with despite of me providing the amazon sim kit. I had to chat again since i did not have any service. Please triple check to make sure you are activating the amazon sim. CSR may automatically activate the original simcard


PLEASE READ IT

DO NOT INSERT YOUR SIM INTO YOUR PHONE BEFORE ACTIVATION.

I suggest to avoid using the Verizon sim if you are activating TF(no IMEI involved), because using VZW sim will make TF treats your BYOP phone as their device, but you do not have a choice if you are activating TW.

Skip this part and Read Only if you are using the phone bought from TW/TF to activate the Amazon sim. (Most of you are activating the iPhone 6s)

After you enter your IMEI, if it goes straight to ask you either keep your old number or get a new number, it means your IMEI is linked to the SIM card number that comes with the phone.
You need to link your AMZ SIM card number to the IMEI

Instructions of linking Amz sim to IMEI
Step 1: download the total wireless app from App Store (yes, you need to do it via app, no way you can do it on the TW website because it always ask IMEI first, if you are able to enter SIM card number before IMEI, then you are good)
Step 2: open the app and go to Activate Device
Step 3: choose Keep Your Own Device
Step 4: enter your AMZ SIM card number, next give it your IMEI
Now it links your AMZ sim to the IMEI, continue to complete the activation process in the app on your own or ask rep to do it for you

You cannot skip account registration when doing activation in the app. There is a human with a headphone on the upper right corner of the app. You can ask a rep to activate it for you via live chat or over the phone after you link your Amz SIM to your IMEI. Say you are doing BYOP and only provide them your AMZ SIM card number. Give them your IMEI when they ask for it, then your airtime pin. I suggest to activate the service in the app on your own.

For Everyone Else

After you are done with activation, I suggest to wait for 24-48 hours before inserting the SIM into your phone, esp. for those who bought multiple sim kits from Amz and who do not have a spare phone. By doing so, hopefully you will get the code via text without having to contact customer support. You will not miss any of your texts even you have not yet inserted the sim into the phone.

Read Only if you want to know why using VZW sim to activate your service is a bad idea (I wish I knew it earlier)

Tracfone-brand carriers will slim-lock your BYOP phone and mark it as their device if you are using a VZW sim with them. That is, if you are currently with TF under VZW coverage, and you want to switch to TW or any other Tracfone-brand company, they will say that your BYOP phone isn't compatible. You are able to switch b/t TF/TW/N10, ect only if you ask a rep to move your IMEI from your current Tracfone-brand carrier to the new Tracfone-brand carrier. You need to contact them every time you want to switch b/t the Tracfone brands. To see whether or not your Phone is compatible with the Verizon VMNO, check your IMEI on the Verizon Wireless website.

Yes, you can use your unlocked TW phone on any Tracfone-brand carriers. Vice Versa. Even they said your Phone isn't compatible. If it is compatible with Verizon, it works with any VMNO on Verizon network. End of Story
