Quick look:

4MP dome - very small sensor 1/3" - recommend skipping it if you need low light performance. Looks like a Hikvision OEM.

2x 8MP bullets - look like Hikvision OEM cameras - see previous threads on it.

Saturn 8MP turret - Dahua OEM camera, see previous threads on it.
For the Saturn cameras, please see the following thread:

Hi JP2764

The ipcamtalk cameras iirc are Hikvision OEM products. They are reported to be good models.

When I was looking for camera Dahua was out with 2MP low light cameras before Hikvision so I went with Dahua and thus know the Dahua line better.

Judging from ipcamtalk members I think in general the Dahua OEM international models they are picking up are more popular, suspect due to slightly better perceived value.

Of course like comparing vehicles from say Honda, Nissan, and Toyota a lot depends on the particular model.

Hi JP2764,

Junction boxes / wall mounts are not included in the IP PoE camera packages, nor the NVR kits I have seen.

While kits may include a cable per camera included in the kit ( double check, sometimes they include a super cheap cable which you do not really want to use... sometimes they have decent cables which are riser rated and w/copper wires ),

Cameras may not have cables included.

Normally screws are included, however I often use longer and quality wood deck screws or the like to secure my cameras to a 2x4" behind the wall / soffit )

I'm ok with that as I like to run quality bulk cat5e/6 cable with AWG 23-24 solid copper wires to the camera locations.

See the various notes at ipcamtalk on cabling and installing.

Hi Jack -

Various ways to connect to these as they use IP standards ( rtsp ).

Hikvision OEM IVMS-4200 software is free for a PC
Dahua OEM SmartPSS software is free for a PC

you can also use 3rd party software, like Blue Iris .. or Tiny Cam Pro for mobile android devices.

Hi kyatobhiug

Gone are the days of running all sorts of software on insecure browsers. Just have to accept that the browser is not the universal interface for all products - in particular security camera feeds and controls.

If you want you can look at pale moon browser if you want a browser which works better with security cameras. ( hint - DO NOT use it for banking )

HI JP2764,

I like the Saturn line, and the 8MP turrent camera. Note, a number of ipcamtalk members are waiting for a 8MP turrent with a 1/1.8" sensor ( vs the 1/2.5" sensor in this one ).
For $100 I think it's a good camera to buy for daylight coverage. For night time the 2MP starlights still do better.

30 buck for an IP camera is attractive. Will this work with Synology and Blue Iris

So I've been piecing together an NVR out of my old gaming computer with an i7-4790k, and I've just bought some Prime deals (TP-Link PoE+ adapter from earlier, and about to add the WD Purple to the cart). If I do buy the $100 Saturn cameras, will I be able to mount them under a soffit without any extra hardware? I skimmed some of the other threads you linked, but in general, is the Saturn a decent/good all around camera in your opinion?

Does it not accept ONVIF cameras? If it does these cameras should work with it.

It's refurbished so it's better than a new one, nice deal!

I've been told many times here that they go through stricter guidelines with refurbished products so they're actually better than a new one, according to Slickdealers. I question why anyone here would even buy new anything?

I forgot to also add the question: or are the new IPCamTalk cameras a better bang for the buck?

Wow, so I did this exact same thing with that exact CPU....I have these specific Saturn Cameras as well as some other 4K turret cameras that have been on here. I highly recommend this Saturn camera as it has built-in audio which is just a nice plus when everything is said and done. I built a mount specifically for my soffit to cause the least amount of damage but in reality, you could probably mount directly to the soffit.

If I could go back and purchase my cameras again....I'd go with the Saturn cameras primarily.

So it comes with some hardware to attach to the soffit? One thing I never understood so far is how seemingly complicated the mounts are. Like, you can guy a camera, but then that company doesn't seem to make some mysterious "mount" for it, and then people have to guess at like 4 different versions of mounts that might fit it. I just want to mount the damn things under a soffit, y'know? Also, how's the night quality? and have you turned it down from 4k at all? I was thinking of moving it down to 4mp or even 2mp 15-20/fps, hoping that'd give it some better quality and take up less resources.
