CVS Info:

First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.

Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing

The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.

Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.

The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

I should add, it isn't just the xbox 360 BS that has gotten me in the mood I'm in. There's some family crap happening, plus, my 5 year old's father is being a irresponsible dipshit. He brought her to school incredibly late this morning. Then, she only has a half day today, which he knew about and I reminded him again about last night, and yet he forgot to pick her up (he's supposed to have her until 5 today) so they sent her home on the bus. I was just pulling out when the bus dropped her off! Had I left 30 seconds sooner she would have been left here alone and locked out of the house.

I would kick his ass. Srsly. That is soo farking irresponsible.

We went to some yard sales. Got Robert some books, a new bookshelf, NEW stainless steel flatware- it's really heavy and nice, Jack some clothes, and I got a purse. Of course Robert Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) then bitched that I didn't need another purse, and I told him to stuff it.

My husband knows better. He might Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) but he knows to keep his trap shut. He likes the $250-$300 that we have budgeted for grocery/household that he hasn't had to pay for 2 years now. Since I coupon pretty much all of it down it just comes out of my account. He starts bitching, I get coupon lazy and it comes out of his account. Roll

Glad you had some nice finds including a PURSE for YOU! hug

He can bitch if he wants, but I'm gonna buy it anyway, so he's wasting his breath.

I ripped him and new one. And, to make it worse I told his mother just now when she called Rofl2 She called and asked why my daughter was here when she was supposed to be with him. I couldn't lie laugh out loud so I told her!

I'm back - the garage sales here sucked. I got one of those things that has a mat the baby lays on and poles criss crossed with toys hanging from it that the baby can reach up and play with for $5. The lady said she'd only used it a couple times and it looked new. Got myself a paper cutter. That's it.

The first garage sale I went to had a crib and changing table, but the lady wanted $250 and had a sign that said prices are firm. Gave her my # and said if you don't sell it and are willing to come down on the price, let me know. Not sure if I want it or not. It's a pretty plain looking set but in really good shape. What do you think is a fair price to pay for that at a garage sale? What do you think about a used crib mattress? I was planning to get that part new...

Bargoon, I paid $45 for a used wooden crib, with no mattress, at a yard sale. I got the mattress used for $10 at another one, most mattresses are plastic covered, so it's not something like an adult mattress, where you HAVE to buy new or risk nasty things.

The neatest thing just happened. Mom and I took DD to the park to play, and then we went down to the lake to feed the ducks. While we were feeding the ducks, a guy who was fishing near us, pointed out to us that a SNAKE WAS EATING A FISH not far from us. HOW COOL! it was a Copperhead, eating a perch, and it was so neato, after he got the whole fish down, we could see the fish in his body, as it went down.

it was so cool.

can someone tell me who Thrifty N So cal is on FB, so i can friend her?

I think that is far too much. I used a used crib mattress, because like TSNC said, they are plastic. You can wash it good and disinfect it if it bothers you. Just make sure it's firm with no holes.
