Q: What was the last radio in the FT-101 Series?
A: FT-101F
The FT-101F was produced in 1977
The last radio in the FT-101 Series that came out in 1980 and produced until 1986 was the
FT-101ZD. but FT-101F is the answer they want.
The 1977 FT-101FX was the last type of the original 101 series using 6JS6C television sweep tubes.
The 1978 FT-101Z and the The 1980 FT-101ZD were a new design with the FT-101 name with
6146B Final Tubes. Late production units additionally covered the 30, 17, 12 meter WARC bands. The FT-101ZD added a digital display.
The question is a little tricky and depends on what they mean by FT-101 Series.
Once again they are asking questions about an old radio that only a few old timers remember.

Q: What was the first "FL" Series Amplifier?

My theory on why they keep asking about the old model is that when the first contest started in April 12, 2019 we didn't have much more than the announcement brochure for the FT-DX101D. An english language User Manual didn't become available until later. So they tried to cash in on the popularity and past glories of the old FT-101. Also the old Fox Tango had something of a cult following and those people might be interested in in a new model Fox Tango.
Now they are asking the same questions in this contest because they are too lazy to write new ones
Generating interest in an old rig that you can only get on eBay and sometimes at a hamfest isn't going to generate sales for them of the new unit which has nothing in common with the old rig except a similar name, IMHO.
