Quote from Im bored in a previous thread...
So these (LVS-DHPTK3682W-28) actually seem to be Dahua IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE. Mine came with 2.622.10SU005.0.R, Build Date: 2018-04-18 firmware. I contacted LaView support to see if they can provide a copy of the firmware just so I can have it in case issues would arise in the future but the Indian lady on the other end said they don't have any firmware to provide and that the cameras have the latest firmware, which how did she know what firmware was on the actual camera since I never told her.

I went looking for Dahua OEM firmware and this seems to be the latest at the moment (2018-12-28):

Hey mat2000,
Costco is going to have a sale on these Lorex for $700 starting next week. https://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Ch...99244.html
Can you give an insight on these cheaper Lorex vs the LaView posted here? LaView for the same set up would cost $178 more plus 2TB HD cost. (I know we are comparing dome vs bullet too). Thanks advance for your input. Waiting for your reply.

Those first cameras are turrets, not domes. Huge difference

I wouldn't call the difference huge. A dome is basically a turret with a clear dome cover. Even bullets can have the same electronics and optics as turrets/domes - it's just the housing and mounting that's different.
HUGE difference if you are placing these outside.

I bought that kit back in June to try it out and I plan to return it this weekend.

I was comparing it to the kit in this post: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=128270926&postcount=37

The image quality of the bullet cameras from the soon-to-be $700 kit was absolutely terrible compared to the rectangular camera from that thread. I mainly wanted to try out the person and vehicle smart detection hoping it would cut down on false alerts but I was thoroughly disappointed. The images on the box are misleading as well. It shows a "Person" notification with a still image preview similar to how Nest does motion notifications. The iPhone app has nothing like that and just sends a text notification for motion, person or vehicle. The only thing it has over the 16ch 9x4k camera kit is the Google Assistant compatibility which is more of a novelty.

I'm still trying to figure out what your point it. I realize that the product website incorrectly calls this a "turret dome" (it's just a turret, no dome included) but other than that I don't see how the dome discussion is relevant. The Costco deal is for bullet cameras, and the difference between bullet and turret is not huge, at least in my mind. Smilie

As for the Costco kit, one thing that strikes me is that if you go looking for detailed specs on it, good luck! The only spec I could find on the cameras was this [lorextechnology.com] and it's a bit Mickey Mouse. For one thing, not much information on supported protocols.

Does anyone know if these will provide motion alerts on a Lorex NVR? I have other brand cameras recording to my Lorex NVR but they only do continuous recording and don't provide any motion alerts. I'd love to know if this LaView camera will trigger motion alerts to the Lorex app before buying.

Amcrest has the similar one which I ordered but for about $7 less.
i am not sure if they are the same, only re-branded.
