WD bought SanDisk several years ago so they're the same company. They later purchased part of Toshiba's NAND manufacturing facilities, so manufacture their NAND in-house. Looking through the previous threads on this product, these are re-branded SanDisk Cruzer Glides (supposedly they even identify themselves as a SanDisk Cruzer Glide to Windows).

The answer is "it depends." Most people don't seem to realize that the speed of any drive depends on the size of the files you're transferring. Bigger files (like movies) transfer quickest. Small files (like text and Word documents) transfer slowest. Intermediate files (like MP3s) fall in between.

The benchmarks I'm seeing for the SanDisk Cruzer Glide isn't atrocious. But neither is it very good. 20 MB/s sequential read, 9 MB/s sequential write. 4 MB/s small file read, 0.8 MB/s small file write.

So to answer your question, for writing large files it'll be about 15x-20x slower than the newer USB flash drives which can hit 200+ MB/s sequential, about 10x-15x slower at reads. For small files it'll be about 10x-15x slower at writes, 3x-4x slower at reads. I say it's not atrocious because the typical budget flash drive will be 1000x-5000x slower at small file writes (~0.005 MB/s). Those are the drives where copying your folder of MP3s takes 12 hours.

Heads up, transfer speeds are snail like.
I got the 128GB blue flash drive from Best Buy when it was on sale the end of July. It is abysmally slow, and I would never have bought it had I known that.

Shows free shipping for me.

These are basically rebadged Sandisk Glides. In for 2 32's and 1 64, can never have too many flash drives.

Just curious, how much time are you saving to transfer the entirety of this 32GB flash drive versus the fastest 32GB flash drive available today?

Exactly. Why pay actual money for actual garbage? It's just a few dollars more for normal drives that are multiple times faster.

Because that's not the only capacity listed on this page, he might not just be transferring 32GB. He might be transferring 64GB (or 128 GB as linked in the 1st comment). Transfer speeds make a big difference if you use it frequently.
