I had a different model chest freezer, with a very dim green light near the bottom It tripped the GFCI multiple times. After losing too much food, I bought a GFCI with an audible alarm when tripped. It never tripped again, instead the compressor stopped working and we still lost everything.
I bought this same model a couple.of years ago at $99, it's still working fine, have had no issues with it. this is the lowest I've seen it after that.

You may need My Best Buy Elite to get free shipping if it's a scheduled delivery. The regular My Best Buy gives free shipping on $35+, not sure on this size item.
I've got the 7 cu. ft. version of this and it does have a power light, however that light stopped working after like 2 days... I use this for a keezer and have had it since April, so far it's not given me any trouble and is very quiet. I know it's not the same as the 5.0 cu. ft., but it's likely very similar.
I've been thinking about getting a chest freezer, but for the garage. Does anyone have any experience with one of these in a garage? How does it perform?
Thanks!
What concerns do you have?
Just what I can think of: it will scratch and dent pretty easily, so if you want to use it to set things on, put some thick cardboard or something on top of it. The sides are just as sensitive, so try not to bang into it. Of course, make sure the power stays on for it, so be careful if you have a lot of cords around to not get them confused, and don't plug it into a switched outlet (or power strip) or someone might accidentally turn it off. Don't sit or stand on this thing, or put heavy items on it. You might want to get a lock for it if there are kids around. If you do any kind of work in your garage, keep chemicals away from it, and don't store them above it. And make sure to keep the seal clean from saw dust or things that might compromise the seal.
You do want to make sure it's level, and you'll want to make sure to keep it away from water spray and don't put it where any water might puddle.

My understanding is that if you live in a place where it gets very cold (like the great white north where I live) - you don't want it outside- unless your garage is heated.
i got this same one last time for $99+tax. exactly year ago
works ok.i thought i could set it to lowest setting and it wont freeze things.but it did freeze things on lowest settings
shipping tip: it wont fit in 4 door sedan ex accord, sonata, camry when packed in original packaging.dont know of it would fit without packaging
Bought it on 05/29/17 for $99.99.

Bought it $99 a year and a half ago. It's a great freezer for the price. I put it on rollers and I slide it under a counter top between a washer and a dryer.
Any one know how this would hold up in an unheated garage

That's interesting- what would the problem be? Some switch or mechanism have a problem or freeze up?
I have the 10.2 cu ft freezer with the propane refrigerant and it works really well. If it ever goes back down to $200, I may buy another one to convert into a fridge

I've always wanted one, but was concerned about the electricity costs. Googling tells me that a freezer of this size would only cost me $2 a month in electricity.
That's not bad, but not sure if I have the room. The solution would be to buy less food though.

Would be wary if not stated as an attribute. GE makes a distinction in it's lines https://www.geappliance
