I had a different model chest freezer, with a very dim green light near the bottom It tripped the GFCI multiple times. After losing too much food, I bought a GFCI with an audible alarm when tripped. It never tripped again, instead the compressor stopped working and we still lost everything.
I bought this same model a couple.of years ago at $99, it's still working fine, have had no issues with it. this is the lowest I've seen it after that.

I've been thinking about getting a chest freezer, but for the garage. Does anyone have any experience with one of these in a garage? How does it perform?
Thanks!
I live in the desert and have one in my garage and it's going on 2 years and still working fine.

I've had this same model in my garage for 2-3 years and it has been running great. It is in a spot where it never gets direct sunlight and runs off an appliance extension cord. Temps outside are up to 90's in the summer and down to 20's in the winter where I live. The garage door is open all day when I work on projects and my wife parks her car in the garage, which she drives daily year round opening and closing the garage door.
I picked this up during the memorial Day sale and I also keep mine in the garage. I live in Florida so it can get quite warm in there but the freezer has done wonderfully. Absolutely no issues. Mine also has a power lights that shows when it is working as it should
Just what I can think of: it will scratch and dent pretty easily, so if you want to use it to set things on, put some thick cardboard or something on top of it. The sides are just as sensitive, so try not to bang into it. Of course, make sure the power stays on for it, so be careful if you have a lot of cords around to not get them confused, and don't plug it into a switched outlet (or power strip) or someone might accidentally turn it off. Don't sit or stand on this thing, or put heavy items on it. You might want to get a lock for it if there are kids around. If you do any kind of work in your garage, keep chemicals away from it, and don't store them above it. And make sure to keep the seal clean from saw dust or things that might compromise the seal.
You do want to make sure it's level, and you'll want to make sure to keep it away from water spray and don't put it where any water might puddle.
Hey there, I appreciate your response! I think my primary concern is temperature. Where I live it can get pretty hot in the summer (90+F), and pretty cold in the winter (20ish F). My garage doesn't have any temperature control, so I'm concerned that the swings in temp, humidity, etc, would cause a chest freezer to die prematurely.
I've also read that in some chest freezer manuals they state you shouldn't use them where the environment isn't temperature controlled. So I was curious if anyone here has used this particular model/brand, since its manual doesn't mention environment temperature.
It does state "Locate the freezer away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, such as a stove, heater, or radiator. Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Extremely cold temperatures may also prevent the freezer from performing properly", so if I assume "extremely cold temperatures" was anything below 0 I should be okay.
Looks like its $270 now, was this 129 in store only?
In store price is normally 149. It goes down to 129 occasionally. Might go cheaper, but haven't seen that. I bought one last month, i think the sale price ended on 8/28.
It has been working like a champ so far. It is in a temporary location until I wire a new outlet where I want it to go. It also comes standard with wheels installed which was helpful.
Also if anyone cares about organization. These seem really popular for this specific use. 4 of them fit in the 7cubic foot. They stack, and have handles so you can get down to the next layer easier. The freezer only comes with 2 small wire baskets that are inadequate.

That's awesome! My use case sounds pretty much identical to yours. Thanks for your response!
I bought this freezer several months ago and it works fine. It's in my garage where the side door is open all the time. You can crank up the coolness setting in the summer and back down in the winter.

Not nearly that expensive in-store even if not $129. I checked for the last few months and its been around $139 at my local Costco (for now). Waiting for it to drop further. I think it's been as low as $119 (or less) but that's YMMV.
