Can you use the car as a WiFi router at home LOL
No thanks. I was burned by AT&Ts grandfathered promo for Directv Now. Had a clause that basically said they could raise the rate when they wanted to.
5G won't have as much coverage area as LTE because of higher frequency band. We will have spots for 5G initially and then slowly cover block, street, town, city, state, and then whole country. Don't think because you hear 5G a lot means we are there, it's a really long roadmap which will take at least 3-4 years.

I've been investigating this and chatting with T-Mobile on Twitter since you got me interested in this idea yesterday. I'm not getting very far. They are saying I can't convert the line to SyncUp Drive

There is not a specific discount for converting one of your existing voice lines. The discount is applied to the cost of the mobile internet line, for some of our mobile internet plans you can get a $10 discount if you have a voice line with T-Mobile. In your case, the SyncUP plan would not qualify for the additional $10 off because we have priced it as low as possible for people that may not have voice lines.

They don't understand what I'm asking, and I'm having trouble explaining.

The mobile internet plans for hotspot devices are priced the same as the SyncUP plans, so if you wanted to get 6 GB of data on that line it would still be $25 a month. I know we are looking to get you the most bang for your buck and I want to provide you with the best possible resolution. Reviewing your info I have a solution that I think would be perfect for you. If you did have a phone for that line you no longer used, I can give that line unlimited data and then you would have 10 GB that you can use specifically for hot spot. It would still be $20 a month but you would be able to get 10 GB to use on the go instead of 6 GB priced at $25.

I'm trying to get them to clarify if changing it to a mobile internet line, as you've suggested, would affect the amount of credit I receive for the line, making it $5/month plus taxes.

I also can't see that BingeOn is included anymore, although unclear if that would carry over if I converted an existing Simple Choice line.
Don't mention anything about SyncUp or mobile for hotspots .... just ask to convert 1 free line to 6Gbs mobile internet line (aka tablet line) and keep same promotion ... then binge on should be on by default or you can click on that new mobile internet line >> media setting >> binge on ... you won't see that option unless your line is 3Gbs or higher (2.5Gb line pumped up to 4Gb won't count) so you need to ask rep to convert to 6gbs table line.

So is the $25 a month truly unlimited but the $15 a month plan is unlimited upto 22 gb then possible throttling?

Thanks!
No, on AT&T, ALL plans are subject to the possibility of throttling after 22GBs.

Money maker for me. We have T-Mobile Kickback which credits us back "$10 per line when you use 2GB or less of data on your T-Mobile ONE plan."

Most of the time, we just barely go over the 2GB on 2-3 of the lines due to using our phones in the car while driving around. So that's $20-30 in potential lost credits.

By paying $15/mo for this WiFi, we shouldn't be going over the 2GB anymore, which means we will be saving $5-15/mo ($20-30 potential credit minus $15 wifi cost=$5-15 money maker).

YMMV but this is great for us.

Which number you called ?
Sorry for the late reply. I called 800-331-0500, said I wanted to switch to the promotion and then they transferred me to someone who could help with in-car wi-fi. None of their phone menu options are relevant to in-car data so you just need to hope for the best. Sorry that's not helpful.

This plugs into the OBD2 port. I don't understand how it would get better signal because it is not connected to the cars antenna.

Does anyone know if this is necessary to use a OBD2 port? I would think it is just using if for the power source so you could buy a OBD2 port and hook it up to a 12v battery and be in business?

Received my Harman Spark last week. I've been unable to use it for the last week because the device was not broadcasting a wireless signal. I was conversing with Harman support for the last week and got it working just yesterday. Also got my bill from AT&T yesterday for $68. I have paid full price ($80) ahead of time for the Spark so no monthly payment required for the device itself. The $68 bill was $30 for activation + $30 monthly charge + $8 fees. I called AT&T to ask why I was charged $30 instead of the $15 promotional offer and they said that was only for cars with the built-in wireless. The cost of the Spark's monthly service is $30. They were able to credit me for the days my Spark wasn't working which was nice. Not sure how long I'll stay with this.

The "Built-In WiFi" isn't using the OBD port at all. There's no sim card even. You just call and give your VIN, or in the case of cars equipped with OnStar (like mine), you enroll just by pressing the blue OnStar button.... you never even have to call AT&T.

Anyone with an Audi manage to sign up with an expired Audi Connect Prime? Try signing up online forces me to buy Connect Prime at $199 or $499. I've already got 2 Mobley lines but would like to add this so I don't have to carry the hotspot around.
