I spent 3 and a half days in Rome. I went to a few big European cities a few years ago, but since this deal has you flying in and out of Rome, visiting other cities besides Rome (with the possible exception of Naples) can be somewhat difficult. I spent 1 day doing the things for the Vatican (Basilica, Sistine Chapel, museum and Castel Sant'Angelo). The next day was spent going to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and Altar of the Fatherland. The following day I walked all over Rome, seeing the Trevi Fountain, Quirinale Palace, the Pantheon, and Spanish Steps along with a few shops for souveniers. My final half day was spent at the Galleria Borghese with the gardens before I departed to my next city.

As I traveled solo, I might have done things at a faster pace, so all of these things could stretch out to a full 4 day plan. I did not have any trouble with theft (though being on guard and not displaying any valuables is always advisable) and while I was there during the heat in August, going in October or March should have more pleasant weather too.

As for hotels, it depends on how much you want to spend. I used Airbnb and had my own apartment near the Vatican for $45 a night. I am not sure what you are looking for in a hotel, but service and amenities are not really something I pay a premium for. I just looked for a place that was easy to access, had great air conditioning and fast internet, all of which my Airbnb did well. I am not sure what you are looking for, but hopefully all of this helps!

I totally agree with this - don't spend too much on the hotel. I went to Rome in April and instead of splurging on the hotel I splurged on upgraded "no line,no wait" tours so I didn't spend my precious vacation time standing in line.. I highly recommend the breakfast tour of the Vatican - absolutely no line and no crowds, this is booked directly on the Vatican website. Walking up to St Peter's as the sun is rising, and barely any people around was breathtaking. Just try to get a good area and check reviews, for cleanliness. I stayed in an area called Ponte D'Angelo and it's an amazing, beautiful area with colorful buildings and small cobblestone streets, walking distance to alot of attractions. As far as pickpockets , I never felt unsafe walking around the streets by myself. I did wear a money belt.
you have more Italians living in NY than in Rome...

Extremely good deal! If you plan carefully for 5 days, you should be able to fit everything in a carry on suitcase. If I hadn't been to Rome already, I would be buying tickets now!

Great deal! Once you're over there, flying to other EU countries is super cheap, too!

sadly the fare doesn't include the seat fare... still a good deal, but you must carry on your luggage for this price. willing to do that, not big deal but a lot of caveats to this deal.

Please be aware of your surroundings...lot of pickpockets and scams. Otherwise, very safe compared to U.S. cities.

Especially the packed train from the airport to Roma Termini. Highly recommend a Pacsafe travel wallet or money belt.

What were your itineraries, if you don't mind to share?

By itineraries, do you mean what I did in Rome?
