Is this C535? If you have received them, what are your impressions on the C535 (refurb) ?
Just received two of them to go with the two that I bought new in the last Costco $99.99 deal. They appear to be brand new, just come in an aftermarket box. Identical to the ones from Costco. They work very well and have a great nighttime quiet mode. Couldn't justify paying $110 (with shipping) for the C545 just to have Wifi that I'm not going to use when the C535s have met all my needs.
Had a C535 from Costco, brought 2 more C545 just now. C535 is bigger and to me, looks better. 1 of the C545 wifi is now dead. Was able to add both to the App and use Alexa skill to control them. Used Winix 1 and Winix 2 or Workshop and Basement for the command. In just 1 night, Winix 2/Basement is dead(that is no Wifi, everything is functional). I am going to return both C545 and get the C535 in the Winix site. C535 does not have a working wifi.

Good choice. I feet C535 is better than C545. I have them side by side.
I almost got excited on the Costco $100 winix... then I see its some new model with wifi... really wifi on the air filter?? then the not so great reviews.. then the lack of extra filters.. and not compatible with my older winix filters..
But since I was looking for a 2nd unit I see Winix has a referb c535 with 1 year filters for 69 and free ship... pulled the trigger on that one... https://winixamerica.com/product/...-purifier/[winixamerica.com]
does that refurb come with a filter and a 1 year extra filter included? so 2 years total?
I wanted to buy the new C545 in the store, to add to my wonderful C535.
I much prefer the previous C535.
The new C545 model is...
- smaller, so you can't have acces to as many aftermarket filters (yet)
- much lighter, so that fan motor went ultra light and ultra cheap (plastic parts now?), probably not much metal in there now, durability? (think cheap $20 Walmart fan motor)
- no inside handle for carrying between rooms if desired
- a really buggy wifi connection, something i have no desire for in my air purifier
- button changes that I didn't like, seemed more complicated, they saved money in not producing the push button electronic panel
- no remote control, so I have to use a buggy APP made by some subcontracted software developer that won't be updated that often
- includes only 1 year of filters instead of 2
In summary, Winix achieved their goal...
- make more income from propriety filters
- cut production costs
- make the consumer feel like they're getting 'more' (wifi, APP)
Yes I just bought the C545 and there are definitely Wifi Connectivity issues. I have tried over 10 times and I still haven't gotten it to connect. Called Winix America Customer Service, they said "Our app development team and production team are working to figure out if it is an issue with the app or the unit itself." They were not able to provide me with a time frame for a resolution of the issue. I am considering returning the product.
So main gripes are no remote and bad/no wifi depending on model? My bedroom one has one knob and one button. Are those at least functional enough on this brand? Need one for living room n this matches size requirements
I had issues connecting the unit to wifi with an iphone, but was able to get the 3 out of 4 units connected (stably for a few days now) with an old android phone. Definitely not an ideal solution, but could help some people who do not want to return.
The unit is a little smaller but certainly not half the size of the c535. The wifi for mine connected very easy with no issues. The app interface is super simple but it wouldn't find the city of 50k people I live in even if I search the zip code. I also wasn't able to change the room name to something other than Living Room. This is on the Android app. The unit doesn't look nearly as nice as the 535 imo. It is about the same weight, maybe slightly lighter than the 535 but not much as some have suggested in this thread. My biggest disappointments are only 1 year worth of filters and there are plastic clips instead of magnets that hold the front on. The magnets were a much better design. I expect the plastic clips will eventually fail.
Picked one up at my local Costco warehouse over the weekend. They were all sold out but I luckily stumbled into one of them that was misplaced on the shelf while browsing through the aisles.
This is my first Winix air purifier purchase. No issues with the Wi-Fi setup; I just followed the prompts on the app (it could be a little better phrased or intuitive in terms of how it prompts you) and it connected. I made the assumption that it would start off in pairing mode looking for a Wi-Fi the first time you turn it on but it doesn't, and you're supposed to hold down the Wi-Fi button for 3-5 seconds to initiate the process.
Haven't tried the Alexa integration yet. Is there Google Assistant or SmartThings integration?
Saw this at the warehouse. Bummer about the reviews. Only thing about the C535 I don't like (other than bright LEDs at night) is that it doesn't turn on when you plug it in, so you can't just plug it into a smart plug to control it over WiFi.
