"I took my car in for service this week, and the repair shop conducted a scan which showed that I do in fact need a new alternator. It would've been great to have this information before my car stopped in the middle of traffic."

hahahhah thats funny! Some people just wont understand that it cant run a load test on itself.. Thats why you usually hook up directly to the battery to test the alternator. Ohh well.. Ill grab it for $5 if its really free and no app charges.
Been using my scanner forever to do basic reads and clear Check Engine msgs.
