what was your initial offer? i'd imagine there was some back and forth until you got to $1750. thanks
No, it was the first offer from the seller and I accepted. My offer was 1650 initially and a couple of sellers replied back with 1750 being the lowest, so I accepted.
That really comes down to what your usage is.
If you do large prints/cropping or something else that benefits from a high pixel count (landscapes come to mind) then the A7R II would be a "better*" (*similar otherwise) choice.
For most else, its really a toss up depending on the price and what you may already own.
A7R II has some sweet resolution, but the A7 III has way better autofocus and continuous shooting, much longer battery life, better video, almost 1 stop more base ISO dynamic range, and some other smaller niceties.
I'd also go with the A7 III, especially with software like Topaz Gigapixel AI upsampling only getting better, but can understand why one would pick the A7R II as well
i didn't find those prices, they found me. it was the dead of night, in the wee hours of the morning, and for just a few fleeting moments....click, click, bang! deal of this decade.

Some folks score big that night. Thousands of $ worth of gear for mere hundreds of $.....

- A7iii focuses faster
- A7iii (IMO) has better color science
- More focus points
- Touchscreen focus
- Better low light capability
- Not everyone wants (or needs) 42 Mpix
- Better 4k video
That said the A7Rii is probably the best deal going on a digital camera these days for what you spend vs. what you can generate.sorry i couldn't resist.
where did you find the prices?

It was on Amazon Prime day. It was a price mistake but Amazon honored all the orders.
