It was so good I purchased v7 for my parents and remain an advocate. I don't know how it compares specifically to other companies like Shark, etc. But I'd say the stick vac was equally as good as my old upright Dyson ball/pet vac ($300+). I ended up selling my plugin upright.
V11 are out, they get wild in price, I think V7 say maybe is 70% of the cleaning power/capacity. But for the quality of life, a battery/stick vac provides I highly recommend it. You may be able to score this cheaper over time if you're not in a rush as V11 perhaps gets more popular.
V7 @ $200
V8 at $400
V10 at $500
V11 at $700.
You're definitely getting more than 50% of the cleaning power at half the price. ($200 vs $400)
I know for reference the cleaning ability of a v8 vs v10 isn't noticeable. Capacity is higher, and I believe it uses a different battery type/material (rated for several years...10 maybe?)
Side note I have a 1 yr old, 3 yr old, and 180lbs English Mastiff, so I'm using it all the team to avoid kids eating crums and its incredible at getting dog hair up with the Moto Head. The FLuffy head was around $120 through the manufacturer directly. I purchased some cheapo attachments to use (Crevice tool, and an extension hose) to use it in my car. It is very loud at max setting but quite fine at 2/3 setting which I primarily use it on that setting for the longer run time I can almost clear my 5 level split with one charge.
Could another manufacturer do it better? Probably, but until Dyson's cyclone patent expires.. they're probably going to remain a top contender. Cyclones make extremely effective dust separators, which in turn means very little gets to your filter (compared to a conventional vacuum).
I've got an older plug-in dyson ball and after 2 years I've never had to do more than just dump the bin. The filters stay *that* clean.
I just ordered this V7 fluffy for the convenience - looking forward to not having to bust out the heavy-ish Ball vac and wrangling a cord.
V11 actually.. and the real question is whether spending 3 times as much as this is worth it. Probably not.

Depends what you're using it for. It's great for my upstairs hard floor and rugs. Very easy to empty.
