Nice. I guess my final question is, each line was eligible for the $250 rebate? That's the last hurdle the Mrs. has given me before I jump on this. Thanks for all your feedback.

Make sure you screenshot the terms and be prepared to fight for your rebate, they tried screwing me over last time they did one of these promos (earlier this year) for prepaid saying the terms were for post-paid not prepaid! Ended up having to fight it out with the local store manager who ended up giving me $250 in bill credits. They also tried screwing my buddy over more recently (this was about a month or so ago) with a $250 post-paid BYOD port-in, he had to call multiple times but he eventually got his gift card. You've been warned.

Yes, each line gets $250. Remember to not upgrade for at least 45 days while they validate the rebate. I would also play it safe and not move the SIM cards around. Verizon charged $20 activation per line but based on the terms I expect to get that back but hasn't shown on the second bill.

Edit: appears waived activation has expired on 9/30

I did this 8 months ago, worked perfectly. Hard to argue against free service for six months. Currently on T-Mobile for the $200 per line switching bonus, will probably switch back to VZW as soon as I get paid out.

What $200 switching bonus? $150 redbox plus $50 Costco? I signed up for Costco $100 Boyd earlier this month.

For single-line users, their prepaid service is just straight-up cheaper even after the $250 over a 6-mo period. $45 for 16GB data, no extra fees.

Anyone "churn" these bonuses?

I used to be on vzw family plan, my name and number was primary then I switched out to tmobile who had a $150 gift card deal. That's been about 3 months.

Can I switch back to vzw as a single line account to take advantage of this? Don't see anything against this in fine print but you never know.

Don't mind sticking with them for 6 months. My mobile bill is paid for by my employer.

Don't do it. We have been fighting with Verizon for over a month. Four employees have promised to correct overcharges and all four didn't do a darn thing.

I tried it once a few months ago. They didn't give me the rebate. Even if they deny 10%, then they save hundreds of thousands of dollars

Did the calculation for switching from 80/2 lines unlimited with MetroPCS.

Taking into account Amazon prime that comes with metro, you save about 100 for the year with 6 months of Verizon.

Probably not worth the hassle... But you may feel differently

Does the prepaid plans qualify for the rebate?

lol, I would actually vote your post is the most worthless post on the earth..
5 lines ported in and received $1250 average bill is $35 a line PLUS the assorted bullshit taxes/feee.usc, scratch my ass tax, etc. for a bill just shy of $200 a month. So basically 6 months of service for the "worst wireless carrier on the earth"...
For "bill just shy of $200 a month", that is terrible ...
you may get the rebates after six months, you already paid them for $1200.
it is terrible

I have an iPad where I keep a prepaid data plan on it for convenience. My plan right now is with T-Mo but I don't care about the carrier too much.

Looks like the 1GB tablet plan is $15/mo, possibly $10/mo with auto-pay.

Am I missing something here? Pay $20 for 2 months of service and get a $100 gift card? There has to be a catch.

EDIT: yes, I now see "unlimited plan" required, who out there is honestly paying $70 a month for a tablet plan?

yeah, less than $40 a months is "terrible" for 5 lines, each with unlimited service. Whatever you say boss. And yes, when I get the $1250 in rebates it does cover the cost of my 6 months service, so yes, I will pay them about the same as I will get back making the net cost of my 6 months of service $0. I don't know where you learned math but when you have kids i don't recommend that school for them...
