Yes, after the Costco associate takes out the phone, grab it and run out the store with it. If you are fast enough, this will work...

Most of the questions asked here are either in the promotion posting, or are just stupid. Read before posting.

The document tells you which items will be accepted for trade. You can NOT do a IP6, or SE, or Samsung, etc.

It really does not matter how much they give you for the trade. The total rebate you will get will total $580.

Yes, this promotion is for people adding T-Mobile new lines. Duh! Think!

Simple math tells you that trading in an XS or XR is probably not going to make sense in most cases. So, if then don't. Duh!

Nobody has asked yet, but yes the phone must be paid for. And yes it must work. And yes it must not be broken. Duh!

And yes, you must have a Costco card to pay for the phone.

How much does ___ cost at Costco? Easy - go to the website. Prices are listed.
iPhone 8 through Apple gets you $220
iPhone XS through Apple gets you $500

iPhone 8 through this Costco deal gets you $580
iPhone XS through this Costco deal gets you $580

Everyone is talking about jumping on this offer and then cancelling and having the phone unlocked afterwards.. I assume they are going back to cheaper family plans?

If I'm on a 5GB single line with Verizon currently paying $52/month, is this not slick if I just decide to stay with T-Mobile? I also wouldn't be able to get back on the same plan with Verizon in the future, so I would be paying more regardless.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have phones already to trade in?
Yes but I need service to continue on my Sprint phones. We each have an iPhone 7. Maybe I'll buy 2 iphone 6's for $100 each for trade in and then sell our iphone 7s after. What would the math look like? And I can't find a definitive answer. How long do we need to keep the lines open and when could we transfer service over and request them to be unlocked?

if you want to keep your verizon plan, simply open up a new line at tmobile.
No need to port.

you need to at least have 2 months of service since tmobile unlocks are done on the 40th day of service
(some are lucky and get it done earlier)
Also, it will take 6-8 weeks to get the rebate, so, again, 2 months, 3 at the most.

I currently don't have T-mobile. I have a Sprint service that I don't plan on getting rid of. Will these phones work on Sprint? Can someone post the math if we can cancel after three months how much we'd pay out of pocket?
I'm not sure which model you're interested in, however I just got the iPhone XR for T-Mobile, all XR sold in the US are the same model number, the parts numbers are different however, but the bands supported are all the same. Which means you can use the same device on all US carriers.

I believe it started in 2018 when Apple released XR, XS and XS Max. Prior to that Apple put Qualcomm modem in model that support CDMA for Verizon and Sprint, and Intel modem in those for at&t and T-Mobile. So it's been a one-way street (going from Sprint and Verizon to T-Mo or at&t, but not vice versa) until 2018.

(Different story when you're talking about outside of US still)

Sorry, I'm confused. How would opening a new Verizon line benefit me or maximize this deal?

Thanks for reply chaoss.

I'm sorry, I meant opening up a new Tmobile line.

There is no need to port your verizon number to tmobile.
If you want to keep your verizon plan, open up a new line at tmobile. once you get the rebate and unlock your phone, cancel the tmobile account.

The phones are $629+ tax each (so say $680). You would get $580 back off each phone after the credit and rebate card (so net cost of $100). Phones need to be on tmobile until you at least get the rebate card (approx 8-12 weeks) before you cancel. 40 days before they can be unlocked.

If you're over 55, you can do that plan of ~$60/month. So figure 3 months worth to be safe ($180 total) plus whatever it costs to get 2 iPhone 6s (you say $100 each)

So I'd figure $580 total (2* $100 net after rebates/credits, 2 trade in phones at $100 each, $180 total for 3 months calling plan)

Others can chime in if you can get Simple Choice, but the cheapest is Essential unless you're over 55 or a Vet, costs you 60 with autopay + tax.

On the other hand, you could skip T-Mobile and Verizon and go to Sprint with kickstarter plan for $35 with autopay + tax with the new phone from this deal.

He would have to have another device to keep Verizon's line active if he's planning to trade in the old iPhone to T-Mobile, I suppose...

I don't want to port in my phone number because I'm in a family plan which I don't want to get affected.
Instead, can I just by a prepaid sim card and port in that number?

The deal is not about porting a number only.

It's about trading-in an older iPhone for new iPhone, and signing up new line.

Buying prepaid SIM won't help; Buying a working, no screen damage iPhone 6s and newer, does.
