Yes, after the Costco associate takes out the phone, grab it and run out the store with it. If you are fast enough, this will work...

Most of the questions asked here are either in the promotion posting, or are just stupid. Read before posting.

The document tells you which items will be accepted for trade. You can NOT do a IP6, or SE, or Samsung, etc.

It really does not matter how much they give you for the trade. The total rebate you will get will total $580.

Yes, this promotion is for people adding T-Mobile new lines. Duh! Think!

Simple math tells you that trading in an XS or XR is probably not going to make sense in most cases. So, if then don't. Duh!

Nobody has asked yet, but yes the phone must be paid for. And yes it must work. And yes it must not be broken. Duh!

And yes, you must have a Costco card to pay for the phone.

How much does ___ cost at Costco? Easy - go to the website. Prices are listed.
iPhone 8 through Apple gets you $220
iPhone XS through Apple gets you $500

iPhone 8 through this Costco deal gets you $580
iPhone XS through this Costco deal gets you $580

2 of the costco representatives (same location, wanted to verify with the reps there) told me that the phone should be either unlocked / t-mobile. I specifically asked about total wireless and straight talk phones (iphone 6s) that are on sale at Walmart, they said those won't work as trade-in devices. I think those reps didn't know as I am reading people using straight talk phones as trade-in for this deal..
They're wrong. People should stop listening to the Costco Wireless reps. Most have no clue about the details of this, or any other, promotions typically going on. The over 3,000 comments here are far more insightful than anything the reps will tell you.

I wish they would stop extending this deal and just kill it so they can start a better one, like the $750 rebate deal last year. It would be funny to see all the people who jumped at this $580 offer completely lose their minds if that happens.
If you only want the base 11, it's already good enough. $630-580. Even if that deal comes back, you only lose $50 and have to wait for the actual deal.

Then what do you want to do Smilie

Are you telling us not to use those as trade in
Or are you telling us you are not doing that..

Because two reps said vs hundreds of people did it and confirmed here on sd

Thanks for that info. I didn't realize the base 11 was that low of a price at Costco. Hmm, I may have to see if Costco has any left. There is only one Costco near me, and last year they sold out of iphones quickly when these Tmo rebate deals kicked in. I already have a 6s collecting dust in a drawer, so I may just pull the trigger.

Thanks! Also I submitted the rebate form yesterday but will be sending the phone out today via the prepaid shipping label. Both within 3 days of buying the phone. That will not be an issue right? Also would know if I can get the phone unlocked as I will be travelling outside of USA around Christmas or I am kinda stuck for 3 months? Would I mess something up if I get it unlocked for my trip?
No, that's good, the sooner you submit the rebate online and ship out the phone the sooner your rebate can be approved and sent back to you. Typically with T-Mobile you can request an unlock after 41 days of active service. Depending on where you go outside of the USA, you might have T-Mobile coverage anyway and may not need to unlock, but you can always see if you can request a temporary unlock due to traveling (doesn't hurt to ask).

Do I need to go thru 'return' and 'buy' process again? or they can simply process trade-in now? I bought it from Costco different city as it was OOS at my Costco. I hope I can process it in our Costco and won't have to travel far again?
I'm not 100% sure if this counts. You could always try to return and rebuy at your local Costco if needed (I've attempted this before with a toothbrush, simply requesting to put the item on a different credit card and I just kept the same item but the receipt had the new purchase date). That said, I know that they can add the trade-in after the fact in their system, I just don't know if having a different purchase date voids the warranty. Sorry for the answer that isn't really an answer.

the (not so) short story of the process is this...
you go to the wireless desk, ask for the deal
they start your process with verifying/creating your T-Mo account
they give you a print out purchase request for the purchase of the phone(s).
The phones are locked up in the inventory room, only to be given out after purchased and paid.
you go to the Costco checkout lane and pay for the full price of the phone(s)
---obviously, you need a Costco membership to complete this task..(friends, yours, or whatever)
---if it is a friend's membership, then it is a YMMV by the wireless reps desire to be friendly or not.
---and remember, the Costco membership card has your picture on the back. (unless your friend is really cool and let you use his Costco app already logged in)

go back to the wireless desk and wait for the Costco rep to bring your purchased phone(s) to you there.
activate your phone(s) on the account and make a test call to verify working number.
finish your trade-in paperwork.

EDIT: more added...
don't leave Costco without your trade-in paperwork and shipping label.
--be sure the trade-in's IMEI is absolutely correct. the model and size matters also, but can be corrected later.
go home... wait 12-24 hours for your T-Mo account to update.
log onto your T-Mo account. follow the instructions on the paperwork they gave you.
Fill out the online submit form.
package your trade-in phone (no chargers/cases/cables needed) and put the shipping label on. get a mail tracking/receipt at the mail drop off.
you should usually receive your trade-in credit within 48 hours of delivery.
---if you don't, call T-Mo and ask if they are waiting for you to respond with an offer change/acceptance.
---they have a tracking tool and can tell you exactly what is going on if the delivery was completed.
patiently wait for your rebate card to arrive.
Hi.. how did you get return label online or from representative at store or after calling TMobile? Also is it going to Independence parkway, tx?

Personally I would (and did) pull the trigger sooner rather than later. The last decent tmobile deal didn't allow a 6s trade-in (only 7 and newer) so the 6s may become even more obsolete sooner than you think.

For the COSTCO newbies - can someone explain this? How would one get on any "better" BF or December / January deal if it comes around?

There is also no activation fee at Costco for T-Mobile or AT&T (seems to be for Verizon.)

That saves you an additional $30-$40, in addition to the $70 savings off MSRP on iPhone 11.

It was $100 less than MSRP on the iPhone 11 Pro 64Gb at $899. Pro Max 64GB was $999.

That is a pretty good start on a discount, especially compared to the Target $200 gift card at MSRP, plus activation fee.

+++

People here are saying that WalMart price is $50 higher than normal at $750 for the iPhone 11 GB when they have their gift card, plus activation fee.

There may be other good or better deals, depending on your circumstances. But you do need to look at all the costs, then compare the actual net prices with all the details.

Good luck! Smilie

When opening a new line and I decide to port over a number later to replace the new number, do I still submit the rebate using the new temporary I receive? TIA
T-Mobile specifically addresses this, when you go online to start the gift card process.

They say that you should wait and use the permanent, ported number, rather than the temporary number.

+++

Of course, that assumes you are going to port right away.

I have a phone for my mom, I won't actually port it until sometime after Thanksgiving, in early December. So I will submit with the temporary number, then make sure I don't port until after the gift card is sent. Just in case ....

My wife has to decide later this week if she will keep the phone and port, so I'll wait on her decision. She has a 6s, and hates tech, doesn't want a new phone. SmilieEEK!

Good luck!

Thank you! All good points and agreed - makes the present COSTCO deal the best iPhone offer IMO.

But to ask my question more precisely - some think a better COSTCO offer might be coming for BF or later. My question having already got the phone on this present deal, is there a way to make it better if such a better deal does present itself?

I am happy with what I have - but always good to know if there is a way to match.

yes, hardest part is finding a costco that has them in stock.
