Dell is having a limited sale on their monitors including the new Alienware AW3420DW for $1000 + Tax & free shipping. (Normal is $1,500 + Tax)

Native 120 Hz refresh rate and is 34 inch gaming monitor with the full colors brought by IPS Nano Color (98% DCI-P3) technology and a 2ms response time. Featuring a 1900R WQHD resolution and 21:9 display ratio.

Biggest differences between this model an the older AW3418DW is the native 120Hz refresh rather than 100Hz OC to 120Hz found on the old, 98% DCI-P3 color, 2ms response time rather than 4ms, and an updated stand.

This price is less than the comparable Freesync LG panel.

Wow, relax bud. There's no need for insults.

Go on Amazon and read the recent reviews. All point to the same issue with scan lines. Google the scan line issue too. LG customer service is terrible across the entire range of products.

Your choice is your choice. I'm just trying to educate potential buyers of the reasoning behind my decision.
I second this, Yellow. Nice write up man. I think he is little upset cause he just spent $700+ on the LG. While they are the same panel, each manufacturer modifies it a little. Most people know Dell is a little higher quality than LG when it comes to the final product, but some just like to buy blindly and insult anyone who doesn't agree with their train of thought.

First of all young grasshopper, Just because they manufacture panels does not mean that they use high quality panels in all models; so, yes, its possible for a manufacturer to sell higher quality parts to others. Second, just because a monitor is calibrated out the factory does not mean its the same as another company's calibration, nor does it mean its any good. This Dell is better quality than that trash lg, sorry to burst your bubble, bud.
Dell and LG use the exact identical down to the part number display manufactured by LG in LG34gkxxx and Dell aw34xxx. No 2 panels are the same but on paper there is 0 difference. And that's a proven fact since TFTCentral has consistently pulled the part numbers and LG has been doing that for a number of years. They sell this 34 inch curved to Acer, Dell, and Asus as far as I know and maybe other smaller brands. they all come out with their own flavors but with the same panel.
This display though is crippled, and not a good deal at $950. Not when the LG F version clocks to 144hz and is fine running adaptive sync on all cards.
Bu If you fancy Dell then I would consider the 3418dw , forego the ~100 nits in brightness for basically the same specs and save a few hundreds. That one can be had for like around 600 on sale. But If you want the best then grab the LG F model which has been as low as $750. This at $950 doesn't make much sense maybe at around 750 to match LG's version, unless u value that 3yr warranty at over 200 bux

edit: looks like it stacks with various perks and in that case sure you could make it a v good deal as long as youre not paying 950 + tax with no other discounts/cash back

Same panels means what? Thats like saying, i bought a bmw cuz it using X shocks. Manufacturers use parts from each other all the time. Its about how they put it together and make it work. The better quality from dell is its overall reliability and better picture quality. As far as price being good or not is another conversation. But, this Dell is indeed better than that LG, the whole build is better quality, period.

Btw, you do realize a good portion of that extra $200 is cuz of gsync, maybe its better to complain to nvidia if its a price thing.

Ive had both monitors, i sold the LG and kept the Dell (close to 2 years) for a reason. Theres a visual difference between the two. I was also able to buy the Dell at $800, and I have a good feeling that price point will come back again on black friday. So anyone that doesnt need a new monitor now, it may be worth it to wait a few weeks.

Same part number. If that's not clear to you then im not sure how else to convey the message. If you wanna be in your own little bubble with Dell that's cool its your choice. Ive had my fair share of fortunate and unfortunate experiences with them. Most folks go with Dell for the warranty but that's it. Its not the build quality, its not "how u put it together" LMAO (wtf is that) its how quick u can turn around and replace it when u need it. dell is good about that, your local store is better, Microcenter is better, Costco is the best. Ive had the Acer x34, the Acer x34p, the Asus pg348Q and now the Dell aw3418dw. The best build for me was the Acer. The best image was also the Acer. The best menu options is on the Dell. Worse display out of the box with bleed was also the Dell.
Anyway heres a panel comparison and interestingly enough, the Dell is actually dimmer, and I can also confirm that with my current Dell because my aw3418dw is not as bright as my Acer x34p.

good luck with your purchase

Love this monitor. One thing I about it over a lot of the competition is the ability to program buttons to different screen modes. I like to use one screen mode with low brightness with comfort view for one button -- great for work, then I use the other three programmable buttons for different gaming modes, one set to cool picture mode for relaxed gaming, fps set for more intense gaming, and another for a more standard picture. Easy to see the button in the dark as it lights up to your customized color. For gaming I mainly play PvP in MMO's and I really enjoy the ultra wide format and would never go back. My wife uses a 4k setup and although it looks great, I prefer the ultra wide set up much more. I can see super ultra wide monitors being popular in the future, actually if you are thinking of super ultra wide and want to wait for that... that would be the only reason why I would wait for a different monitor. Love this monitor, highly recommend it.

This would be a great monitor at the price point if Dell didn't cheapen out and stick a Gen 1 Gsync module in the monitor. The 120hz and dp 1.2/HDMI 1.4 on the old Gsync chip is really holding the monitor back.

Good discount on the new model but still pricey but its the new model so.

Not even a year yet on my Acer Predator x34p for $700. Not worth the upgrade for me.

Can you confirm if this version supports screen split (PIP & PBP) like U3419W? This is my only gripe with my 3418dw.

It might who knows but I just went ahead and ordered already. If it does drop price around Black Friday/Cyber Monday I think we have a 30 day return/price match period with DELL.

It's definitely possible, but I got mine for about $840 after cashback and everything else. You might be able to get it for cheaper during BF, but I personally didn't feel like waiting. I figured if it drops any further, maybe I'd save another $100, but maybe not.
