Always need to consider the transfer fee for balances transfers, and should be included in this post.

"There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater."
EDIT FROM MAY 2021-- THIS POST IS TWO YEARS OLD. THE CARD IT MENTIONS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO BE OPENED.

PLEASE STOP REPLYING TO A TWO YEAR OLD POST WONDERING WHY YOU CAN NOT FIND THIS SPECIFIC CARD/DEAL ANYMORE.

Chase Slate is only 15 months but 0% balance transfer fee.

The slate itself sucks as a card to actually use for anything other than the BT, but if you're mainly concerned about the BT, and the 3 extra months won't kill you, it saves you 3% of however much you're transferring over this... plus once you're done with the BT you can product change it into a genuinely useful card like a Freedom or something.
After years of being on airline miles cards I switched to this card. I am very happy with it. Airline miles are worth an average of 1.3 cents per dollar spent these days. This card is worth 2 cents per dollar to me as a shopper. It takes VERY little effort to redeem the 2% cash back. I enjoy the value and simplicity of this card. I find the citi web site and mobile app to be stronger than alternative bank sites and apps. I don't have the time or desire to manage multiple cards.

This used to be my primary card before Citi deleted the benefits like price protection and extended warranties.

Chase is far more conservative with their credit lines than Citi. You may get no fee with the Slate, but they might only give you a credit line on $5,000.

My experience has been about the same between the two but when I got this card last year, they only gave me a $3000 limit...whereas my last two chase cards in the past few years gave me over $15k (combined). My Disney card and Amazon card have over $20k between them and my citi diamond is $31k.

Chase will shift credit lines if you request it, citi has denied me the ability to shift available credit from that diamond card to my double cash.

Same here, weird. I have four, 10k credit lines USAA, Apple Card 9k, and I applied for costco and gave me 8k. I applied for this and it gave me 3k. No big deal whatever. but its going to be my main card now,

costco card for costco
Apple Card for apple/online apple pay
citi DB everything I use the physical card for.

Wish they had opening rewards etc.

It's exceedingly rare any airline or hotel card offers reward rates that make putting any spend at all on them worthwhile apart from signup bonuses or offsetting annual credits.

Certainly some offer OTHER perks that can make keeping them or even paying an annual fee on them worthwhile.... but rewards for normal spending usually isn't one of em compared to other cards.
Likely we all get offers based on the banks' metrics; for me, I get frequent reward rates from all of my Chase and AMEX hotel and airline cards. Setting aside the huge bonus earning rates this year for Covid (e.g., 10X for grocery, gas and restaurant), my Chase United, Hyatt, and Southwest have for years been sending me many bonus offers based on gross spending. For example ended 8/31, United card bonus was 2500 miles on top of earnings for $3,975 spending from July 1 - Aug 31. I've received these types of offers for all of the 4+ years I've had the card. Add to that half of my spending is via the UnitedX app with the United portal where gift card spending gets me 25% bonus on earned miles, it's not unusual for a purchase that I'd make anyway to give me 10X on the portal, 3X on the gift card, and 1X on the cc for 14X miles plus a 25% bonus on the gift card for about 15X miles per dollar spent. Leverage that with super saver miles for first class seats and we're getting $6000 airfare seats for 56k miles = $0.107 per mile value. Yes, pre-covid but pricing like that is coming back bet on it. Hotel cards come up with offers too, and the retention offers this year I've pulled in 20k miles and points three times when AF came due. So if you work the hobby hard enough, it does pay well and can pay far better than cash back and similar cards; but they all have value.

One important thing with these 0% APR BT:

DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE WITH IT WHEN YOU STILL CARRY BALANCE.

Leaned it the hard way.

got approved for the Costco Citi card a week ago, decided to try for this too. got denied, but I called and found out its because experien was locked, reapplied only gave me 3k limit. surprising but it is what it is.

is there a thing as too many cards open? I have 4 USAA, 1 Apple Card, 1 Citi Costco, and now 1 citi double cash back.

Credit score 780 at time of hard pull. Was looking to BT 12K over to this Citi account. Like SorrowNightshade & devinlwoods, approved for 3K...

Needed a balance transfer option for an outstanding balance on a CC. Any better options out there? Seems like 18 months and 3% is pretty much as good as it gets.

Ok my dumbass is about to get made fun of..
Do u mean to use this to pay off another card? Can you not pay off one credit card with another, or is it totally over my head what you meant lol sorry...

That is pretty exactly what they meant. Balance transfer essentially pays off one card and moves the balance to the new card, hopefully for a much better rate for a period of time. In general with CC's you cannot pay a card with another card unless you are doing a cash advance or balance transfer.

Can one convert a Citi Double Cash to a Citi COSTCO card? Do you have to be on the Double Cash for a certain period before you can product change to the CITI costco? Once you switch to Citi Costco are you stuck in that card forever or can you then product change to another Citi card?

I am not a big fan of citi anymore. Their customer service went way downhill in the past 2 years. I get transferred and bounced off several employees before my request is fulfilled. Takes a long time on the phone. I have their accelerate savings as well and they have reduced their interest rate to one third of what it used to be all in about one year. Went from 2.8% to 0.9% now. The 2% cash back is nice tho, but if you have any issue with them prepare to be frustrated on the phone.

Had this card for years. Never missed a payment, good way to get 2% discount on everything.

Agree, their customer service blows! Luckily I haven't had to rely much on it.
