Always need to consider the transfer fee for balances transfers, and should be included in this post.

"There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater."
EDIT FROM MAY 2021-- THIS POST IS TWO YEARS OLD. THE CARD IT MENTIONS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO BE OPENED.

PLEASE STOP REPLYING TO A TWO YEAR OLD POST WONDERING WHY YOU CAN NOT FIND THIS SPECIFIC CARD/DEAL ANYMORE.

Chase Slate is only 15 months but 0% balance transfer fee.

The slate itself sucks as a card to actually use for anything other than the BT, but if you're mainly concerned about the BT, and the 3 extra months won't kill you, it saves you 3% of however much you're transferring over this... plus once you're done with the BT you can product change it into a genuinely useful card like a Freedom or something.
After years of being on airline miles cards I switched to this card. I am very happy with it. Airline miles are worth an average of 1.3 cents per dollar spent these days. This card is worth 2 cents per dollar to me as a shopper. It takes VERY little effort to redeem the 2% cash back. I enjoy the value and simplicity of this card. I find the citi web site and mobile app to be stronger than alternative bank sites and apps. I don't have the time or desire to manage multiple cards.

the fee is considered interest so of course, do the math and pay which charges the least amount of interest. however, as i mentioned, i will never pay a fee just to get a 0% interest rate when i never carry a balance. i have been known to accept a $0 fee and 0% interest for 12 - 15 months just so i can carry the balance for the entire time and use the money elsewhere.

my normal cards can be considered 0% when it comes to the promotional rate (i.e. discover) otherwise the apr is never going to matter since i never carry a balance.
Thanks. I was honestly curious (and after posting, realized that this is a super old thread, despite appearing on the FP list, not as featured, and your comment is on the first page and I may have asked it before). For those that don't carry a balance, I'm with you. I was lucky enough to get about 15k cc debt in a divorce and have done 0% once, paying transfer fees for offers because it tallied up to less than 1 month of interest on the cards that would be consumed by it. I'm on a long road to recovery for credit and debt but at least have started the journey.

agreed such offers are actually pretty nice for those who find themselves with a large credit card debt since being able to forgo the interest for even a number of months is huge; we've all been there before. good luck with your journey!

Citi is discontinuing their Virtual Account Number feature, for anyone who likes security. This was one of the main reasons I used this card, but I will be searching for a new one now.

I downgraded from citi premier to double cash due to the annual fee.

I was able to convert cashback to thank you points and then combine my previous account with it to get the thank you points from the previous card showing on the account.

But the thank you points from the premier have an expiration date. Anyway around this?

I'm looking for just a long term BT card without any particular bonuses. The CITI has the nice perk of receiving cashback on purchases if you so chose to use it but the USBank has a longer transfer period and low BT fee.

If only they were accepting right now. I check for slate every week as I've got a balance I want to transfer before March, and so far they've not come back in quite some time.

Do you have a link confirming this? I know there was a rumor that they were discontinuing it, but that was based on the statement of one CSR and that the feature requires Adobe Flash to work.

Since Flash is going away at the end of this year, you would be unable to use the VAN "app" to manage your VANs. However, they recently released a new version of the VAN "app" that works without Flash, so it would seem unlikely to me that they would bother making a new version if they were getting rid of it.

A separate question:

I am considering converting my CC (Citi Dividend) which gets only 1% cash back to this card that gets 2% cash back. Is there any disadvantage to this card vs my existing one?
I pay my balance in full every month, so I don't care about things like interest rates or balance transfers. I use my CC solely for convenience and for the cash back (using it as much as possible to get the cash back, even on things I would normally have payed for using cash).

No problems in your case. Definitely do it

Citi has the worst customer service and they wiped all the benefits from their cards, unless you specifically need this card, wouldn't suggest

I already have the Citi Dividend card, so I am aware of them removing the benefits. I have had no problem with customer service. The VAN (Virtual Account Number) feature alone is enough for me to keep the Citi cards over other cards.

I have this card and love it! No frills, no bs, just 2% cash back each month on all purchases. Pay your credit card in full on time each month and you won't have to worry about balance transfers and apr. Credit cards are a free 30 day loan if you pay it off each month.
Free ~50 day loan if you time it right.

EDIT: didn't realize how old of a thread this was.

Probably because nobody uses it anymore, we stopped years ago.
