Always need to consider the transfer fee for balances transfers, and should be included in this post.

"There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater."
EDIT FROM MAY 2021-- THIS POST IS TWO YEARS OLD. THE CARD IT MENTIONS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO BE OPENED.

PLEASE STOP REPLYING TO A TWO YEAR OLD POST WONDERING WHY YOU CAN NOT FIND THIS SPECIFIC CARD/DEAL ANYMORE.

Chase Slate is only 15 months but 0% balance transfer fee.

The slate itself sucks as a card to actually use for anything other than the BT, but if you're mainly concerned about the BT, and the 3 extra months won't kill you, it saves you 3% of however much you're transferring over this... plus once you're done with the BT you can product change it into a genuinely useful card like a Freedom or something.
After years of being on airline miles cards I switched to this card. I am very happy with it. Airline miles are worth an average of 1.3 cents per dollar spent these days. This card is worth 2 cents per dollar to me as a shopper. It takes VERY little effort to redeem the 2% cash back. I enjoy the value and simplicity of this card. I find the citi web site and mobile app to be stronger than alternative bank sites and apps. I don't have the time or desire to manage multiple cards.

There are almso no protection from bad purchase, no extended warranty, no travel and rental car insurance. Other bank cards may offer less cash back but they offer more benefits and purchase protection.

Can't you have a few cards and use the appropriate one? Saybthus one daily and a better alternative if traveling or making a specific purchase?

I just product changed my 13+ year old Dividend card to the Double Cash card. My Dividend dollars transferred over OK and all my account history carried over with no credit check.

I think I will get more cash back overall by going with the DC card. Was there any benefits that the Dividend card had that the DC card doesn't?

I'm also considering getting a Visa card to use at Costco, but the rewards on the Costco Citi card can only be cashed in once a year, and only at Costco. I might go with the Chase Unlimited Freedom, unless there's something better?

You can cash the Costco rewards fot cash though. Just making sure you understand that. Not required to spend the reward in store. Now if the nearest Costco is far away that may not be ideal.

Well because after the intro period, I would probably stick around and use the card for purchases and such, which becomes a profit for them. By the same logic, why would any vendor have any promotion at all? Also, FED's interest rates are so low right now, that it wouldn't really cost them much to have these offers. That's why I'm surprised we are not seeing much action..

Ukely a lot would do it then still file bankruptcy due to covid lockdowns, etc. Thst is coming in some degree or another

Discover it card. No brainer. 2% cash back. 5% cb on rotating categories. AND they match your cashback at end of year. If you are worried about balances and transfers you dun fuked up with credit cards anyway. Thanks for the rewards.

Where does it say 2% cash back? I only see 1% cash back, also the match is only for the first year.

I loved those Zero, Zero Balance Transfers. I got a few using Slate, two with BankAmericard, and once with Barclay. I never paid a penny of interest with any of them. I would just switch from Chase to BofA then to Barclay, etc.

Of course I loved it, but it never made any sense to me. Perhaps you are right, maybe a lot of people do get stuck with 15 percent interest and can't refinance it for less. That would be quite profitable for them.
Yep, same. Barclay, Slate and currently at the end of a BoA promo, that's why I'm looking for a new one. I found out that Slate is still available at the branch, I had to schedule an appointment with someone to get it done.

I've had both for years and there's no comparison to the Citi. Discovery is 1% on non rotating category purchases, not 2%. They only matches the first year (which is why I got it) and the categories are stupid to keep up with and aren't always useful. Walgreens and CVS now? Oh and there's a limit on reward purchases which I found out after buying a lawn mower... $75 a month.

The Citi 2% I use to pay for everything. Cell phone, electric bill, eating out, anything that'll take a card and not on Amazon. I've gotten... quick check.... over $2k rewards from it. Keeping up with categories becomes a chore and I'm likely going to drop the Discover after some more homework tonight.

Please give us an update on getting the Slate card at the bank branch. That could save $450 in BT fees!

I'll report back as soon as it's done. My current BoA promo doesn't expire until the end of April, so I scheduled an appt for the beginning of March.

That one is from Synchrony bank, and it ruins PayPal 2% card. Low limit bottom feeder bank with bunch of complains.

Synchrony is great for using paypal credit for 24 months at 0% on eBay. I'll take the deal all day even if though I can drop cash down on the purchase today.

Needed a balance transfer option for an outstanding balance on a CC. Any better options out there? Seems like 18 months and 3% is pretty much as good as it gets.

Always consider when you apply for a new cc the bank runs a hard check on your credit which will lower your credit score for 2 years before it drops off. So is it worth lowering your credit score for 2 years to get a balance transfer with a new credit card?

It has a very minor effect on your credit score. US Bank has a 20 month zero percent offer with 3% BT fee.

Great for simplicity but you can get much better multipliers with other cards depending on how you expect to spend not to mention sign-up bonuses. It definitely takes some work but if you want to play the points game you can get tremendous value.

Also, i believe pen fed has a 2% cashback card with $100 sign-up bonus, very easy to qualify as a pen fed member.

Was just looking for a card that I can make a major purchase on (or xfer the balance to) that had longest 0% APR, best cashback (good to have), and other perks

This citi card is on my short list

Discover it (3% fee on xfers, 0% apr for 14 months xfers and purchases, dollar for dollar annual rewards match, good rewards program)

US BANK visa platinum has 20 months 0% APR

Citi diamond preferred 18 months 0% apr on purchases and xfers
