Always need to consider the transfer fee for balances transfers, and should be included in this post.

"There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater."
EDIT FROM MAY 2021-- THIS POST IS TWO YEARS OLD. THE CARD IT MENTIONS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO BE OPENED.

PLEASE STOP REPLYING TO A TWO YEAR OLD POST WONDERING WHY YOU CAN NOT FIND THIS SPECIFIC CARD/DEAL ANYMORE.

Chase Slate is only 15 months but 0% balance transfer fee.

The slate itself sucks as a card to actually use for anything other than the BT, but if you're mainly concerned about the BT, and the 3 extra months won't kill you, it saves you 3% of however much you're transferring over this... plus once you're done with the BT you can product change it into a genuinely useful card like a Freedom or something.
After years of being on airline miles cards I switched to this card. I am very happy with it. Airline miles are worth an average of 1.3 cents per dollar spent these days. This card is worth 2 cents per dollar to me as a shopper. It takes VERY little effort to redeem the 2% cash back. I enjoy the value and simplicity of this card. I find the citi web site and mobile app to be stronger than alternative bank sites and apps. I don't have the time or desire to manage multiple cards.

I've tried off and on for a few years to try and get this card. Declined every single time.

They switched this card from CB to Citipoints after 1 year. This is a bait and switch. Better to go with Chase for Balance Transfer and go with one of the 1.5% CB cards for rewards. Citi is the worst!

Why is the switch an issue? You get the same cashback either way. Am I missing something?

No, Citi doesn't make it clear you can still get cashback because they want people to spend their rewards on gift cards instead. But it's still 2% cashback. Nothing changes except the name of the points.

I don't know if the redemption value stayed the same, you can look that up. My concern is cash is universal and Citipoints I have to redeem for dumb gift cards or overpriced merchandise. I still have $250 Apple gift cards that I redeemed from old Citipoints account and I haven't found any deal on the Apple site worth using them on.

I can only tell you that I received an email regarding Citi changing to thankyou points and in the email I received it was made quite clear (a few times) that nothing changed and they mentioned getting CASH back would be the same as before.

"I don't know if the redemption value stayed the same...."

And yet here you are making accusations regarding something you admittedly don't even understand. The redemption value is the same - you can get cash back just the same, and the same amount.

And no, you don't have to redeem them for gift cards.

Might want to find out the facts in the future before posting.

Switching from cashback to points is the first step.
Devaluing the points is the second step.

Wouldn't all that interest negate any card bonuses then? Seems counter productive to aim for cash back while carrying a balance.

You are absolutely correct regarding this not being the card with which you'd want to carry a balance. I think they're just asking that the fees are mentioned and disclosed. I don't think it would make sense to transfer a balance to this card - I don't think you'd get the 1% on the payoff (unless this cards rate was much lower than your current card and how sad would that be!)
