So the previous thread (for the i3) said this laptop supported 16gb of 2400 mhz memory. Looking at intel's website says that this cpu supports a max of 64gb of 3200 mhz memory. Does anyone know which is correct? I know that much RAM is overkill but I would like to get the fastest RAM possible if I can.

Also, intel states that this little guy can output 4k video at 120hz. Has anyone gotten that to work? Is that through the USB-C or the HDMI?

Also, I updated my switched out of S-mode then did a windows fresh start right from the beginning. I then updated the BIOS. I am still noticing that the fan is running a lot, is there something that I missed?

I added a stick of 16GB 2666 https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Si...071KP8CGJ/

The 4gb stick in there is also already running at 2666.

You cant output video via type-C.

the 10th gen intel CPUs support 3200MHz RAM that is correct, astho it might be overkill as very few manifactures make it at all, it also has high CAS latency, looking at the Kingston Hyper X 3200MHz [amazon.com] that are CAS20 and cost $111 for 2x8GB, you better buying the Kingston Hyper X 2933MHz CL17 RAM [amazon.com] for $87

The performance would be most likely same, in both cases you better.monitor the prices on those 2 diferrend RAM kits and wait for BF pricing.

Thank you! I will keep an eye out for some good deals. This laptop is killer for the price. HP still lists this as an i3 on their website for some reason. I did the crucial scan and it didn't come up with anything so that added to my confusion.

Look at the pictures @jackt posted a few pages back. I followed that and didn't have any issues.

Got two of these. One has a loose/rattling touchpad. Costco let me open two other boxes and same issue. So out of four units only one doesn't have the problem. Gotta figure out a way to shim it.

aye, this CPU is 10-15% faster than an i5-8250U and more than double the graphics performance while been cooler and more power efficient cus of the new 10nm tech..

the price is a BF deal for i3 with G1 graphics, this is i5 with G4 graphics which on its own is worth $100+ prob $125
last year Costco BF deal was the same HP laptop, with i3 8th gen, was $300 and the threat had like 1,000 thumbs up..

great deal, and in perfect time as there will def be deals on SSDs and RAM by Thanxgiving, definetely worth investing in good RAM as this could be a great litle PC for atleast 2-3 years, if nothing breaks offcourse, and then you can transfer that same RAM into whatever you buy then few years in the future.

When I try to order it says i3 and not i5. Is this the correct model?

TIA

Should I put the paper anywhere in particular? Did it work?

I am SO tempted! Was looking for a different type of laptop but this might be just too good to pass up. Decent screen, future-proof processor, and upgradeable? Dang.

It's a huge improvement. I was able to tighten up the right side nicely, the left side of the touchpad is behind the battery so I did not force any paper in that area. If you take it apart and press the touchpad you'll see the movement that you need to restrict. I personally always use the 'tap' not the click feature of the touchpad.
