Thanks for all the information you've provided. I know that NVMe is a faster interface than SATA, but I'm wondering how much of a performance impact would there be in replacing the SATA SSD that comes with the laptop with a NVMe one. I understand the main impetus of replacing the SSD would be to get a larger sized one, but if the size is equal, would using a NVMe SSD instead of SATA make a really noticeable difference?
Yes. NVMe is the most significant upgrade to come along in years, as significant as when we switched from HD to SSD. Any time you deal with a large file operation you notice.

An 1TB Inland Premium for $105 on Amazon is 5x as fast as SATA. Even slower NVMe drives will be 3x as fast.

I own last year's HP CostCo BF deal and put a Sabrent Rocket in it, plus added an 8GB stick. I can run a VM like it is a native machine.

Caveat: Do not buy the PCIe 3 Sabrent Rockets now as they have changed the hardware to a slower design without changing the model number or pricing (documented elsewhere on SD and in Amazon reviews).

that lenovo 14w is so weak. its priced exactly how it should be for the weak performance and lack of features that it has. that to me is basically regular price.

return it if you can

How is this as a hackintosh?
The issue with hackintoshing virtually all laptops is that almost no wireless cards are supported by Apple. The recommended solution on those sites is to use certain USB wireless dongles.

You could also get a hackintosh to run in a VM but more RAM and a bigger, faster NVMe drive would probably be necessary.

I own the previous year's model, the one with wired ethernet.

What's the best way to safely change from S mode?

Backup an image of the hp laptop before changing into S mode or after?

If it was factory reset, does it change back to S mode?

Can I still change it to regular windows mode from S mode after a factory reset or is Windows gonna whine about a ineligibility?

How much space is left after updates?

What exact kind of NVME drive can it accept? I've heard different keys and stuff. New to nvmes so I'd appreciate some help.

Yes but apparently it's shipping i5. Could be a mistake but people are speculating intel didn't get the i3's ready in time.

yea thats the whole reason this thread is poppin right now and also the same reason why many arent even opening this thread

because what you really get is an i5-10xxxxxx

evenv with the i3-10 this is a good deal. last years had the i3-8 and it was prob the best laptop for the price during the holidays.

even now if it was only an i3-10 it already puts this as the one to beat BUT with it actually coming with i5-10th gen doubtful it can be beat as the best laptop for this years holiday deals. especially for $280

aye, this CPU is 10-15% faster than an i5-8250U and more than double the graphics performance while been cooler and more power efficient cus of the new 10nm tech..

the price is a BF deal for i3 with G1 graphics, this is i5 with G4 graphics which on its own is worth $100+ prob $125
last year Costco BF deal was the same HP laptop, with i3 8th gen, was $300 and the threat had like 1,000 thumbs up..

great deal, and in perfect time as there will def be deals on SSDs and RAM by Thanxgiving, definetely worth investing in good RAM as this could be a great litle PC for atleast 2-3 years, if nothing breaks offcourse, and then you can transfer that same RAM into whatever you buy then few years in the future.
How's the GPU of this vs Vega 8 on the Ryzen 5 2500U and 3500U?
