We can replace the existing 4gb in there?

Is it just a simple take out and plug in? Anything else needed for a ram upgrade?A
If the pictures are right then the original 4gb is also removable.

Hi guys,
I own both the 2018 version and purchased this 2019 version.
I LOVE the BONUS SPEED we get from this year's I5.

However, between the 2018 and the 2019, speed is the only HUGE improvement. Everything else seems like a step backwards.

- Keyboard is more flimsy (it flexes where as the 2018 version is very sturdy)
- Trackpad is not as accurate. (I would rate the 2019's trackpad 6/10 if the 2018's were 9/10)
- The 2019 I5'S fan noise is WORSE than the the 2018's I3! I am guessing more CPU/GPU draws more heat yet the casing is slimmer (?)
- 2018's has FAST CHARGING. The 2019's charges way slower.
- 2018's has ethernet port, 2019's does not.
- 2019's technically a bit heavier than the 2018's (not buy much though, just like how it's a bit thinner, and also not by much)

WORST OF ALL, there seems to be a HUGE BUG that slows down this i5 to CRAWLING SPEED <No exaggeration>!
(Can someone else check so I can see if it's just mine?)

- WHILE PLUGGED IN, turn on the computer and boot into Windows 10
- Put the computer into "Sleep mode" by either pressing the "Power button" or closing the Lid.
- When you wake up the computer again, does your computer slow down to crawling speed?

Mine is suffering from that issue.
If yours also has the problem, then it's definitely a bug!
And that would make me thinking this computer is somewhat a rushed/unfinished product that's both a blessing and a curse.
Blessing = getting an I5 instead of I3 <maybe the future batch will revert back to I3?>
Curse = System Wake up Bug.

No, I have not had that wake up issue. But, I've already swapped the SSD, clean installed windows, and upgraded the RAM.

Went out to my local Costco today and picked one of these up; they had plenty in stock. Can confirm what previous commenters have mentioned, it has an i5-1035g4 processor. I also installed 16 GB of RAM and a 256 NVME SSD. Total came out to around $395 for the laptop and upgrades. Upgrading was easy too, finished in 10 minutes.

If you do upgrade the SSD, I highly recommend using the HP Support Assistant. I tried to manually install drivers and was stuck troubleshooting for half an hour before I gave up.
What did the Support Assistant help with? Did it take care of some of the driver installation? I had to do some work arounds (posted a few pages back) about how to get the wifi driver reinstalled.

Easy. All you need is a hairdryer, a screwdriver, and a plastic card. Hairdryer is to make it easier to remove the rubber feet and the plastic card is used to wedge between the back plate and the body to undo the back plate clips.

i really want this for my college student but im concerned about the 128GB and the I3 drive.......
is this a I3 or not? i keep reading here that its a I5
and is the 128GB big enough for a college student?
help pleaze
your child will be getting a FREE upgrade that turns this laptop into a laptop that usually should cost $500-600 with the i5-10th gen processor

128GB is fine. esp these days with most things on the cloud and the use of external drives

this is more laptop than average person even college student would need so it should last a good while

128gb is plenty for microsoft office files and regular college use,

128gb is not enough if the college student wants to install a few large games and/or download movies and other large files.

4gb ram is okay, but this laptop is much better if you install an extra 4gb or 8gb stick of ram.

considering that the laptop is "going to college" i wouldn't spend anymore than $400 on a laptop that may be stolen or broken, unless you have a bunch of extra money laying around.

Thanks guys! just ran to costco and bought one! definitely an 10th gen i5! screen is definitely IPS FHD!! As I walked in, I saw a couple of people carrying it out, and when I was checking out the laptop, there are at least 2 two 3 people filling out the pick up sheet! Talked to two of them and they all said they saw the deal in slickdeal! Nice!
