Do you know which driver was needed to do a clean install of Windows? I'm stuck at trying the various drivers on HP's website, but its trial/error and there are a lot of drivers. Thanks in advance!
See my post here, it can be tricky due to S mode: https://slickdeals.net/f/13524451-costco-members-hp-14-laptop-i3-1005g1-4gb-ddr4-128gb-ssd-win-10-s-280-free-shipping?p=131725705#post131725705

You may also want to try to use the HP Support Assistant software to help the drivers, someone else had mentioned using that to make the driver installation easier.

For those who are reinstalling Windows: make sure you switch it from S mode to Home mode first, otherwise the Windows 10 reinstallation media won't copy the drivers and it will brick the laptop since you can't connect to internet. I bricked mine and have to return it unfortunately. Yes, stupid me.

Can you get the wifi driver on a thumb drive? The zip version, not the executable. Then In device manager install the driver using the Have Disk option. See Option 2, Manual Installation:

Hmmm, my laptop doesn't seem to be boosting when needed, all 4 cores stay at 399 MHz according to CPUid....movies are playing slowly and all 8 threads would throttle up to 100% but cores still won't boost. Yes the laptop is plugged in.

I did see your post. The driver that the clean install needs is in the very beginning of the windows install when you first boot from the windows 10 install usb. It's a popup that says *A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard Disk driver...."
It needs the driver to be able to identity the SSD storage to install to it.
I did use an external mouse and also have the wifi driver that was in your post, but that's not the driver needed...yet.
Am i the only one with this missing driving issue?

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it's 14 inches:
1) It's the standard HP 14" chassis
2) It says 14" on the HP spec page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06463284
3) It says 14" on the Costco product page: https://www.costco.com/hp-14%22-l...11171.html
4) The model name says 14: "HP Notebook 14-dq1025cl"
5) HP makes 14" displays for their two lower end lines- the regular line like this one, and Pavilion. Their 2 premium lines -Envy and Spectre- are the ones that have 13.3" displays.

I'm never 100% sure of anything, but everything I've read and seen about this model has said it has a 14" display.

Depends how heavily you're using it, but for web surfing and other light usage, I am getting more than 2 hours. 4 hours at the upper limit is about right I feel.

What SSD are you using? My SSD was detected and I didnt need any drivers for it. Does BIOS see the SSD you installed in the boot selection menu? That will help confirm it is actually installed properly and working.

Laptop is still bone stock, using the original SSD. Simply nuking the drive to install and clean version of Win10 and another dual boot partition for linux. I always feel better starting with a clean version of windows...even if its not 100% necessary.
