I have the 2018 i3 version and got this laptop today in store that comes with i5. This 2019 version doesn't seems to have the wifi lag/dropout issue as in the 2018 version (Realtek NIC was replaced withal Intel) . Going to test more and will get two more for gifts
Isn't the Realtek wlan chip in the new one the same as the 2018?

Does this have firewire so I can email my pictures?
FireWire went away years ago on consumer computers ... and what does it have to do with emailing pictures?

You can get rid of the fan noise by removing unused apps!
Not really, I removed pretty much all software not useful including HP software comes with it.

Just came back from picking one up this evening from Costco in Signal Hill, CA. I can confirm that the label on box shows Intel Core i5-1035G4 Processor. I may keep this for my son for school work. Just upgrade the RAM and maybe the SSD later.

This will probably get buried, but definitely download the trackpad and wifi drivers to another USB before clean-installing Windows 10, or you may find yourself in a tight spot. The keyboard shortcut to boot from USB is F9.
Yup, I mentioned that too. Also buried in here somewhere lol.

Returned the 2018 i3 version and got this one today, added another 4GB RAM and played with it for a while and here is some initial thought:
1, Screen is same as the 2018 i3 version, beautiful ips
2, Speaker is same as the 2018 i3 version which is bad anyway
3, Keyboard is slightly cheaper than the 2018, but acceptable, I mean none of them are very good anyway
4, Touchpad, the 2018 i3 version has 2 click buttons and this one does not, and it is not as accurate as the 2018 version, but again, both are not top quality touchpad anyway
5, Fan noise, this is where really can tell the difference, this unit comes with i5 definitely has more fan noise then the 2018 i3 version, whenever I loaded anything, like open 5 tabs for example, the fan started spin crazy and generate lot noise. I assume that is due to the extra heat generated by the CPU
6, Build quality are same, at least I could not tell any difference when open the back cover to add the RAM

Overall, if you don't mind the extra noise on the new unit, it is a very good deal.
How did you return 2018 one?

Then you need to take it apart and apply some thermal paste on it!

Hahaha, I will try that for sure. Just curious, if you open let's say 5 to 10 tabs in your browser, in my case, I used chrome, did you notice the fan start spin faster and generates very noticeable noise? I bought 2 units and they are doing the same thing, so I assume it is not a random thing.

Did you try post 494?

"To Sum it up for the jet engine fan problem:
1/ go to bios and disable fan always on
2/disable the following serives:
-HP Analytics service
-HP App Helper HSA Service
-HP Network HSA Service
-HP System Info HSA Service
-Windows Search
3/go to task manager -> Startup -> an disable HpseuHostLauncher too.

That's all I did, and my fan rarely turn on watching 1080p youtube video with cpu utilization between 5% to 8%... CPU speed is mostly running at 0.95GHz"
