newegg has a 2x8GB RAM kit for $55 - BF sale

https://www.newegg.com/corsair-16...6820233961

I know the 4GB RAM module is 2666 MHz, but does real world performance matter?

it will prob wont matter much at all, but this 10th gen CPU can take up to 3200MHz RAM that would probmake some diference, obviously about twice the price

Picked one up today for the the boss , I mean the wife's Christmas present. Typing on it now. The sharpness of the screen compared to her fuzzy much older lappy is a sight for the old eyes. Have installed Avast antivirus and LibreOffice and it used up 36 GB. The fan noise is very quiet, can only really hear it if I put my ear 6 inches from the keyboard. Have not uninstalled anything.

Was thinking about getting a micro SD card 128 GB to use a data drive , would that work like an internally installed SSD drive?

Really luving this puter so far, thanks OP.

So some things I've noticed..

Out of the box, the fan goes crazy. I took it out of S Mode and immediately re-installed Windows. I deleted all partitions, then with one 120GB unallocated space, just hit NEXT and let it install. It didn't really do the 4 or so reboots that most Windows installs do, which was odd. When it booted up for the first time, I no longer had Wifi or use of the trackpad. I have a targus USB dongle with Ethernet, but it wouldn't connect to my network like that. I had to use a second computer to download the wifi drivers. Then it was a bunch of restarts before things started getting back to normal. The windows update did not use the ideal trackpad drivers. I didn't have the two-finger-scroll until I went to HP's website and downloaded the official driver. Reinstalling the OS cleanly removed the fan issue. As for the CPU, If I slide the battery profile over to high performance, I get an idle 2.8 ghz in task manager. Even though it self identifies as 1.10, it says the base speed is 1.5 ghz. I downloaded the HP support assistant and after all the windows updates, the only updates left were realtek bluetooth and the SD card reader. The SD card reader update failed in HP support assistant, so I had to download those drivers directly as well.

The only bug now, after a fresh install and all updated drivers, is that after coming out of sleep, The computer didn't see the wifi card anymore. I looked in the page for network devices, and it was completely blank of any detected hardware. A quick restart fixed it, but hopefully this doesn't become a recurring theme.

I am looking forward to upgrading the RAM with a cheap 4GB stick in a few days.

Yea if there is something wrong with it. Otherwise, aren't you committing an act of fraud?

How to Return an Item

Products purchased at a Costco location need to be returned at the returns counter at any Costco warehouse.

Items ordered online can be returned at any Costco warehouse -or- you can initiate a return through Costco.com.
Thank you! Very helpful.

You can try. Havent used Newegg in awhile, but tried and their website on phone is terrible now. Used to be no problem.

I just tried to install a second HDD but the cable from the previous gen doesn't fit the socket provided. Any idea what this socket is for?

I measured the sRGB of this generation and previous gen and got these numbers:
Previous gen:
sRGB: 55.2%
Adobe RGB: 38.1%

Current gen:
sRGB: 57.4%
Adobe RGB: 39.6%
