Sure-- but an i3 would be fine as well.

Depends if grandpa and grandma plays video games on it!

Man the lowest setting of 2400 MHz for this will be fine since no games are involved!

OK I have used this laptop for few hours since yesterday. I gotta say the fan noise is a bit distracting. This is my first time using a cheap laptop and I just realized fans on the fancy machines make noise differently. This one seems odd. Sounds like a tiny whistle or something.
I fixed the whistle by putting 4 strips of masking tape on the left side of the bottom holes. Now it just makes a wooshing noise.

For anyone that upgraded the RAM and has an extra 4GB stick that will be laying around - I will pay shipping if you could mail it to me? Thanks!

It's probably less due to more RAM, vs. the fact you added a 2nd stick and got benefit of dual-channel being enabled. So, whatever size stick anyone installs, you'll get a decent boost.
So what are the pros/cons adding 1 single 16GB stick (total 20GB) vs 2 8GB (total 16GB) aside from the obvious more total RAM.

Did you ditch windows entirely or are dual booting?
I ditched the Windows entirely. First, it uses 30Gb of space and Ubuntu uses 5Gb. So I save a lot of space. Second, the Ubuntu 19.10 has a very little memory footprint so the idle Memory consumption is reduced.

Just to let you know, I haven't used Windows since 2013. Once they ditched Windows 7, I ditched them.

The way you have it, only the first 8GB would be dual (4+4). If you had sticks matching in size, the whole thing will be dual.

Cancelled too. Ordered last night and intended delivery to business address. I retried with shipping to the warehouse. Stupid.

Since this comes with a SSD how quickly does this boot up to the windows login screen? I assume no lag performing basic taks in windows?
8 seconds from cold boot when I tried it. (roughly, counting Mississippi)

Got one from google shopping. I found the keyboard to be decent. Trackpad is horrible and it makes annoying squeak noise. Plan to put in a bit silicon underneath it to fix.

Grabbed an inland premium 512GB and one 16GB ram new off ebay for $95 total.

For a total $354 + tax, the machine is with i5 10th gen, 20gb ram, 512 nvme, ips and backlit keyboard. Totally worth it!

Wow all you guys with under 12 second boot times... I timed mine with a stopwatch and it was like 20+ seconds to the login screen. Fully stock no upgrades.
